Hello. I'm 29 year old female and I'm having big problems with controlling my menstrual periods. You see, every since I started to get periods, they were vary painful, accompanied with strong cramps and excessive bleeding.
So, I was forced to use some pain killers and other medications for controlling menstrual bleeding. Then I was very young, but now I'm 29 years old and have already two kids. That’s all I wanted. Now, I don’t need to take this any more and I was thinking about hysterectomy. I didn’t contact any doctor over this because I would like to find out more about this operation and to determined can excessive bleeding be and indication for hysterectomy!?
Hello. I will to explain you some facts about hysterectomy. Hysterectomy is operation of removing uterus. There are several types of this operation such as total hysterectomy, when uterus, the tissue on both sides of the cervix and the upper part of the vagina are being removed, and partial, when only uterus is being removed.
Now-about your problem.
I have read somewhere that severe, long-term (chronic) vaginal bleeding that cannot be controlled by medications is definitely an indication for this operation, especially with women which already have children. It will scientifically improve the quality of their lives.
Of course, you should know that you will probably be on hormone replacement therapy for a long time. Good luck!
