Hi there, I can sympathize with the bloating and looking pregnant, as I have this on quite a regular basis. I have IBS and for the past 15-18 years have had all sorts of problems which affect my well being. I have had the usual endoscopy, colonoscopy, ultrasounds etc. I have also tried alternative treatments, such as acupuncture, colonic irrigation, reflexology, homiaopathy, (probably havent spelt that right, but never mind!!!) Anyway I cantsay that none have helped because I dont know, I had to give up because of the expense. I figure that a lot of my problems are caused by food intolerance, stress etc. Try taking a probiotic supplement, also caprylic acid is good for any candida overgrowth in the gut which can cause bloating. Yarrow taken before meals is also meant to be good for bloating. When I am really feeling Rough, I take Slippery Elm which I find really settles my stomach. Another good one is Peppermint tea. Hope this is of some help to you.

Hi Angela,

I'm curious how you are vegan as well as low-carb and all the other things you are implementing. I, too, am a vegan (about 10 months now), and I suffer from incredible stomach bloting all day long. I'm not talking about bloating in my intestines, I'm talking about my actual stomach. As soon as I eat, it blows up and I look like I"m very pregnant. It's awful. I would really like to make it go away without medication, but rather diet alone. Would you share with me the foods you eat in a day?  ***this post is edited by moderator *** *** private e-mails not allowed*** Please read our Terms of Use

Hi I have had the same problem I get bloated right after eating and it lasted for 3 months until I talked to this Nurse and Vitamin Rep from the company Usana. They sell the BEST vitamins and supplements in the world. They suggest that the bloating was from eating too much processed food. I didnt think I was eating that much processed food but i tried what they suggested and it worked!! Basically its an inflammation in the stomach and intestines which makes it hard to digest your food properly ie: resulting in stomach bloating from all this bacteria. You might want to try this and see if it works.

They told me to put a lemon wedge in my water half hour before i eat any meals and this helps to start your digestive juices flowing before you eat so it can digest better. Also eat probiotic yogurt 3 times a day for a few weeks then cut down to one a day.  ***this post is edited by moderator *** *** web addresses not allowed***

Scizm, I had the same problem reference your gallbladder surgery!!!! It'll take awhile for your body to recuperate, but you'll be able to get your six pack back.. Just keep doing your cardio and pay attention to your body after you eat.. I'm having a bloating issue after I eat vegetable soup and that's one of my favorite foods.. Aaaahhh!! Not anymore... Drink a lot of water, magnesium vitamin and your multivitamins supplements... I take muscle milk every once in awhile, but also have to pay attention to supplement cause they'll give me a headache.. Maybe it's that enzyme thing you mentioned

I have had my gallbladder removed for 2 years now, and I still have the bloating/pain after I eat.  I take Librax 3 times daily before meals and 40 mg of Nexium.  My first gastro visit, he performed EGD and his findings were that I had mild gastritis.  NONE of these symptoms have anything to do with nicotine.

Research Candida Albicans overgrowth in gut and you will learn that this is the culprit and how to cure yourself. Beware that western society doctors do not accept this and that is why they haven't told you about it. You can find all of the information on the internet and at your local whole foods store where you can speak with an nutritionist.

I know exactly what it was! you mentioned you quit smoking for some months. Very bad gas and bloating are common side effects of your GI track trying to readjust to having no nicotine. also, constipation or diarrhea and all that bad bowel stuff is what will happen when you stop smoking and the system trying to rehydrate your body, and the decreased metabolism... anyway, this could actually take a year to balance it self back to normal, and nicotine free.

This is my life everday...I've tried almost everything...the only things that seem to help are to fod map diet ( slightly ) and staying away from caffine, nuts, acidic foods and spicy foods ..drinking 4 ltrs of water a day at least..having small plain meals ...trying to excersize, even just walking especially after meals (i sit down at work all day so this makes it worse i think ) I'm also taking a fibre supplimemt a good pro biotic and I'm using andrews liversalts at the moment to see if they help.. i aso know i have to do regular juice clense but i've been a bit lazy.ive also added fermented foods to my diet...I've been going through this for years and i think there is an improvment recently..i also think smoking makes mine worse at times and better at others...everyone is different i guess..don't get down you'll find what works for you in the end and remember you are not alone..stress makes this §o much worse too..it may be worth getting some help in whatever form you can find it to fight your battle...i hope you feel better soon :)

Oh man, I've had similar issues. Almost exactly the same actually. I also did most of those tests and cause I'm a young (30) "healthy" non smoking vegetarian they dismissed me. I could barely eat anything for 3 months queasy every day to the point of anxiety attacks it was utter hell.

No one could tell me what was wrong! So I did my own research carefully watched my symptoms then finally went to the emergency & insisted they check me for stones and they rolled their eyes at me but then DID end up finding 2 small stones in my kidneys.

I was also pretty constipated and am pretty sure I have issues with candida overgrowth in my gut. In the end I treated myself and got better over time, but I still have flare ups if I eat too much junk.

Prior to it getting really bad i had tried boosting the good intestinal flora with supplements acidophilous and yogurts but that actually made things way worst! Honestly, it's a bad idea to do that until AFTER you do a candida diet to kill off the yeast over growth first THEN build up the good flora again afterwards. Aloe juice, and anti fungal and adaptogen herbs are Key!

Aloe, echinacea help kill the yeast by boosting microphages and white blood cells, thyme, rosemary, garlic & orageno are great anti fungals, a reishi tincture is a good normalizing adaptogen go to your local health food store and look for antiviral/adaptogen tinctures. Avoid processed sugars & empty carbs like processed white flours & crackers like the plague right now, as they just feed the yeast. If you're constipated hibiscus tea is a very gentle laxative + be sure to boost your fiber intake! sweet potatoes are excellent for that (boil them & eat the skins too!), fresh ginger root, peppermint & fennel are fast acting and good for quickly relieving trapped gas nausea and cramping. have some in a tea or room temperature water after meals to signifigantly reduce symptoms. Also, turmeric & black pepper in soups work really nicely together to relieve inflammation in the gut as well and will help you have healthier bowel movements.

Hope you feel Better soon!!!
I empathize soOoo much.

Hi there, I have had anxiety for 12 years now, and just the last two months i started to belch uncontrollably which started to worry me but i could not help it, i then started to bloat a lot too.. I thought i maybe had a gluten intolerance so i stopped eating gluten products 2 months ago, however symptoms still exist. I am even bloated after something simple like a peach. I have had an ultra sound today to check for anything... I do gulp a lot of air due to my anxiety.... and realise that when I'm not anxious my stomach problems pretty much vanish... i just don't understand how my mind can be causing such physical sensations like this. Perhaps tackling the anxiety will help the overall condition.. good luck :)
