I have been struggling with tiredness and many aches & pains (tingling in my thighs at night also for 3 yrs now. Over the summer I took a flight to florida and it got so bad I was having constant head aches & mini black outs and my feet and ankles were swelling & feet turning dark purple.

I went to the VA hospital and had blood work done, my WBC is up out of range and my Ferritine (iron * and stored iron) were dangerously low (5).
Over the summer they did repeated blood work, iron levels never reach over 28 and by the end of the summer had gone back down to 15.

I have tried everything I can think of including a gluten free diet, but am fighting diarea (goes from loose bowels to all out water diareah depending on what I eat)
I take iron supplements & multivitiman plus Q10 supplement & B12 and a probiotic. The B12 & Q10 seem to help my energy levels but doesnt last longer than an hour or so when I feel it.
My period is coming more often than normal (about every 16-18 days)
I just turned 50 yrs old in July of 2008.
Can anyone help me find an answer to my syptoms? My stomach seems to be NOT functioning normally. (rarely do I have any noises or sensations in my intestines like normally) all my life I had a great stomach growls when hungry, now, I cannot tell when I am hungry, I just feel like my belly is full all the time.
Thanks for any information in the right direction..

Hey man. Do you think that the tingling in your thighs is related to the lack of iron? I don't seem to understand the connection between these two. I would've appreciated it if you had explained it further. Do you feel cold, because if iron deficiency does cause you to be cold than that might be an indicator of anemia. I am not so sure or even competent to give you a quality piece of advice, but what I do know for sure is that you should visit doctor's office as soon as possible because that is the fastest way of solving your issue.
