It seems that most of us are having some sort of immune response. Different reasons, but reacting with the lumps. Mine came after a virus that might have set off my rheumatoid. Has anybody at all seen an endocronologist (spelling?) ?
I have found this information very helpful. A few mornings ago after a quick workout and a shower I found a lump like a gel pack on the left side of my neck just above the collarbone about the size of an egg. Within a few hours it had trippled in size. I went to PrimaCare and they had never seen anything like it before, they took X-Rays and suggested I get a CT Scan. By early afternoon it was pressing slightly on my larynex (excuse spelling) so I went to the ER and they quickly moved me through the system. I didn't know if it was going to keep growing and restrict my airways and neither did they. The CT Scan showed strands from "it" through my chest, back and adomum area. To me it seemed like a jellyfish with tinticles. It didn't hurt other than a pin point area just above my collarbone that I would call tender when pressed and a thumb size area just above that was less tender. They asked me to stay overnight for observation and blood testing but still came up with nothing to explain what or why this happened. By the next morning it had gone down to almost normal but still jiggled when I played with it. Almost a week later it is still there but it doesn't scare me anymore.
Thanks to all your comments which are the only answers I have found, I too feel like it is stress related. I had a touch of the flu over a week ago and something went wrong at work which caused a lot of stress.
I am working on managing my stress level with meditation, prayer and gratitude. I am juicing, avoiding animal products, working out more and getting more rest. I am a 56 year young female and in excellent health. I think maybe this is a fluid leak in the lymph node and it has re-absorbed. At the time it occured I had just finished a quick 5 minute elipical workout and stop suddenly to get ready for work. Maybe a slow warm up and cool down are more important that I realized. I think I pumped too much lymph fluid too fast and didnt allow it to process properly. I hope others find this information helpful.
I am a retired PA/RN (Docmex) and "we" are stymied. My 57 y/o wife developed these "gel pads" slowly beginning in 2004. In reply to "Find a cure"; We have not had any input for quite awhile now as we have been ruling out almost every possibility through numerous exams and medication changes. Most recently; X-Rays, CAT scans, Ultrasounds and lab work. The Ultrasounds and X-Rays show these "Gel type pads" are adipose (fat) tissue. The M.D.s at the University of Virginia are baffled as well. No idea, not a clue as to the cause. All exams show WNL (Within Normal Limits). Cardiac, Liver, Kidneys, Pancreas & Spleen, all major organs: WNL. She does have "Essential Hypertension" (high B/P) and began on Tenoretic right around the time these "pads" developed. Two weeks ago we changed her B/P med. from Tenoretic (Atenolol 100mg/Hygroton 25mg) to Lopressor (Metaprolol) 100mg and Dyazide (Hydrochlorothiazide) 25mg. Tenoretic it seems has a (possible) side effect of altering hormone balance. As does stress. With no other Physiological answer, I am leaning toward "Stress". She reacts very strongly to stress. Recently her only brother passed away at 69 y/o from Lymphoma. She broke out in the worst case of Urticaria (Hives) I have seen in 30 yrs. of medicine. She tells me the same thing happened when her Grandmother died. We continue to keep an eye on things and pray someday soon we have an answer. In short: We have done everything possible with "modern" medicine and found No root cause. Please continue to write in with any new findings. Wishing you all the Best Health for the Holidays. Docmex
Like your wife I had an inordinate amount of stress in the six years prior to these lumps appearing - 26yr old pregnant sister killed in a car accident, marriage break down and pregnancy loss. So if stress is a factor, why are we not seeing reversals when stress levels go down? What are we setting off that seems irreversible? How can we be making isolated pockets of fat tissue? (Thank heavens it isnt in the middle of our foreheads eh!) There has to be a wizz kid somewhere who can come up with an answer - I can't shake the feeling this is 'against ourselves' in a way so maybe has an auto-immune component. Anyway, Merry Christmas from New Zealand - we had a lovely sunny day.
i have the same problem my glands swell on both sides and it feels very uncomfortable like someone has their hands around my neck i guess i should go to my doctor maybe my arteries are plugging up.
Ok, I've got a doctors appointment tomorrow, my right side above my collar bone is swallen, but I've been having readlly bad head pains/ headaches on right side of temple as well.
The physical aspect of all this is not hard to figure out. That the neck is swelling is actually a good sign. It means your immune system is indeed working. Poisons are being released and handled by the lymphatic system. It usually means you have an oral infection your body is fighting. The best treatment for it is a good upper cervical chiropractic adjustment and coloidal silver. Also the natural sweetener Xylitol makes the germs real slippery thus eliminating their presence quickly. The immune system is directly affected by upper cervical trauma. Especially the birthing process. When first in practice I specialized in adjusting kids. Cleared up thousands of ear infections. So much so it put the local pediatrician out of business. Length of time having it (the infection) plays into the equation also. If you can get right on top of it when symptoms first appear it only takes a day or two to clear up. Prolonged swelling with no pain or discomfort can mean the thyroid is involved. And again, upper cervical chiropractic handles that quite well also. But it might be dietary too. The concept is to treat any legitimate crisis situation with crisis therapy (the Medical paradigm). Any other health issues arise treat with Natural Healing. The statistics treating health issues as crisis therapy are horendous. Thus a paradigm shift must take place in your own consciousness. And with that I'll address the ascension issues back on Jeans forum. Ken (Doc)
I read up until "makes the germs real slippery", and had to bail. Sorry.
Had to put it in simple language. Sorry. Look it up yourself - Xylitol. The dentists think its a great discovery and that's the best way they could explain it. Try it yourself. It works.
I, like many on here, suffer from the dual clavicle swelling. I still have the issue after months. I am not one to normally bash another poster but sometimes when a poster think they are doing good they may be doing harm. I have been checked out (as I have said in other posts) so I know that I don't have cancer. But you really should not be posting a "cure" unless you know that it will have a direct and postive impact on us sufferers. We do not need Snake Oil at this point.
This problem is depressing and confusing enough. If a person were to read your "advice" and follow up on it instead of seeking a doctor, your advice would be doing harm.
There is a reason why certain things are regulated (as herbs should be). I looked up your magic Xylitol as you suggested. It kills dogs and rats. I did not see any research that has been proven that is makes "germs slippery".
I do not want to debate you, but if you continue to post in this irresponsible manner I will have to complain.
To others:
Be very careful around Xylitol.
It is so toxic that 3 sticks of gum with it in it will KILL a 20 pound dog.
A typical xylitol piece of gum contains .7 – 1 gram of xylitol. About half the amount needed to KILL a rat.

Thank you Toyman. Many on here have had checks up the wazoo and have tried everything bar sticking a fried egg to their foreheads, so to say 'oh just use this and it will be gone' is not helpful. Many of us have thyroid issues, but many don't. We know this is NOT a lymph gland that is swollen too - it is adipose (spelling?) fatty tissue that has formed in one spot. I went down the homeopathic route for my RA and the swellings and had allergy tests, heavy metal tests, hair tests etc and everything came back normal. He gave me something that gave me enough gas to fly a balloon so I either had to stop taking that or stop going out in public! We need to know what causes this before we start swallowing drain cleaner.
Well thank you also Toyman. I will cease giving that advise about zylitol. I received that information from a supposed trusted Natural Health newsletter. One of the top in the country by the way. So thanks again. I had a bad abscess just a couple weeks ago. I used coloidal silver and correction of C1 adjustments to get it gone in about 48 hours. So the rest of the advise was good. I've seen many bilateral clavicular swelling cases over the years and have excellent results resolving them via chiropractic care. Of course there are many other contributing factors but a good adjustment or two and some Natural antibiotics usually does the trick.
reply to all Well I have done all the tests except endocronoligist ? and a chiropractor. These gel pads on the left as one Dr. said are at the top of your lungs. After going for 2nd sonagram they couldn't see the enlarged area from before. No prob with thyroid. I don't have pain with this or affecting my throat as some say. I still see it as swollen maybe not as much but there. Ear nose and throat was a way out answer since this started after having a tooth pulled. " Maybe I was so tense in the chair that it strained that shoulder area". There was stress of course as the tooth was dug out! I do have the arthritis, do have allergies. Been way more stressed over other things in my life than a tooth. I'm starting to look around at other people 60 and over and they look pretty fat around the neck these days. Maybe it's just life. All this $ for tests and nothing alarming. I'm going to quit worrying about it. Although I may give the chiropractor a try.
Kristan, I have a brother in law who has a similar problem and it has a name and it comes and goes for him, although he is over 60. He had this happen to him all of a sudden and he has always been in good health. When I find the info I'll write again it may help. His Dr had to do so much research to get to the bottom of his problem. It does sound like an allergic reaction to something but he can never pinpoint what triggers it.
