Curious about how you are doing, since your post is over a year old. Newly diagnosed with Stage 2 HER2+ breast cancer. Type I diabetes for 41 years, on insulin pump. Probably facing chemo, surgery and radiation. Major concern about steroids and hyperglycemia and nausea/vomiting leading to hypoglycemia with chemo.

Hi
I'm a type 1 diabetic waiting for my results. Surgeon 99.99% sure I have breast cancer ; probably in at least 1 lymph node. Complications: chronic headaches, migraines, high blood pressure, fibromyalgia. I barely survived the first mammogram from the amount of pain it left me in. Pain results in very bad migraines that can last for days. This resulted in a five day dosing of steroids which can result in higher blood sugars I'm getting good at controlling I Bloodsugars but don't know if I can do that with cancer. resurgent feels I most likely have stage to cancer and that the cancer spread to my lymph nodes but my pet scan is not scheduled for another week. Any advice you can give me is definitely appreciated. Looking forward to hearing from more from your experierencr.

Definitely, it’s a hard phase for your friend. Already having diabetes and now having breast cancer too is a big concern of worry. Yes, it might be possible that due to having diabetes, the treatment options for breast cancer be limited. However, the goal of every treatment remains the same i.e. to rid the disease as completely as possible and to prevent cancer from returning. Treatments usually depend on the size of tumor, the extent of disease, and other factors like age, menstrual status, underlying health issues as well.
