Hi Shelby! Due to your family history you REALLY need to talk to your doctor about this and find the most effective, yet easiest pill to take! I lost a friend to a blood clot whil on the pill! So I'm a bit more apprehensive than most people! Are you going on BCP for BC or is it for pain and irregular periods? Just know that there are other options too! That is why you REALLY need to talk to your doctor about ALL the different BCP out there! And know that as far as I know there ISN'T a BCP that doesn't have the risk of blood clots - these are excentuated by smoking too! So IF you smoke - DONT!!! - my girlfriend did and that contributed to her clot! I hope this helps you out, but the more informaiton your doctor has then you can make the most intelligent and informative decision! Good luck and health honey!

I definitely think that you should tell your doctor when you decide to go on birth control so they can take that into consideration. They shuld be able to prescribe you something that helps with both your period and doesn't increase your risk. Let us know what you decide to go with okay?
