Bunionectomy surgery 4 weeks ago and very severe pain, but just at the pin site

The pin is not visible but severely painful when touched even lightly. Is this common? It has been almost 4 weeks since the surgery. So my 2 questions are why isn't rhe pin stinking out of the skin enough to see it? Why is the pain so severe just at the pin site? I had bunion surgery on the 9th of March and the pin site is severely painful , is this normal? Also the pin is Not visible so how will it get removed without cutting the skin?
