Hello. I had a left bunionectomy with closing wedge osteotomy Dec 12, 2014. It is now almost May, I still have a walking boot on because I was told a month and a half ago that I had a nonunion fracture. I have been using a bone stimulator for the last 50 days and am only at 60% healed. After several hours walking at work in the boot, I have pain on the outside of my foot. Had a second opinion last week and found out that the procedure done was not the appropriate surgical decision for as much walking as I do and the screw fixation in coming loose, causing an additional fracture above the initial surgical site. I am having testing done tomorrow to find out the complexity of the healing process. If the is not enough vascularity to the surgical site, I may be having to have the hardware taken and out and replaced by a plate and more screws.
I dont really want to get an attorney involved, but unsure of what to do. The 10 week procedure turned into almost 20 weeks and I was already told by my boss that I would lose my job if I took any more time off for this.
Help!!!!
Can you not explain to him that you need more time for recovery and give him a medical certificate, a proof of your condition. I hope he will honour it.
