Hi everyone I was recently diagnosed with a tumor on my pituitary gland I also have idiopathic intracranial hypertension (IIH) and a papilladema in my left eye. The IIH is mass amount of fluid putting pressure on my brain and has caused the papilladema as the fluid has now travelled to my eyes via optic nerve and has caused blindness. My initial symptoms were headaches especially in morning and luckily my body failed me and I passed out in front of my partner who rung ems were I was sent up country to a better hospital I had so many test done were i was diagnosed with other test including lumbar puncture were they took a pressure test of 41 I was my treatment has been horrible I am on 1000mgs of diamox and it makes me sick and the side affects are so bad painful pins n needles nausea fatigue broken sleep dehydrated no matter how much water you drink anxiety loss appetite I was so active with a physical demanding job and now I save my energy to have a shower I know it seems bad but you will get through my story seems real shitty but trust me this girl always smiling I'm 28

Please don't worry your son will be fine. I unknowingly had a slow growing benign mass with no symptons for 10 years, removed in 2012, I have no adverse issues except for slight damage to my right eye and take no medication. I have a routine annual blood test, MIR Scan, joint appointments with my neurosurgeon /endocrinologist and Ophthalmologist/Optician.

Hi, I've had a pituitary tumour for over 25 years but was only diagnosed 6 years ago. The diagnosis answered so many questions for me. I am very lucky in that I have 2 children and got pregnant with no hassle. Mostly, I feel fine. I take 75mcg of thyroxine daily and have put on about 50lbs. I also have tumour apoplexy, which stressed me out when I was first diagnosed but now I don't think about it. I do get very, very tired though but I try to carry on as usual. I had to give up work due to the tumour in my head, and driving due to loss of peripheral vision. I'm a prisoner in my own home. Good luck fellow sufferers x

It has been interesting to read all of these replays, because it points out the vast array of symptoms that can arise from a pituitary adenoma. I had a macroadenoma debunked two years ago. It is important for you to know if your son has a micro or macro adenoma. Mine was about the size of a cherry when it was finally diagnosed. The second thing is to be yourself an endocrinologist. I would not let my primary care doctor manage this condition...it is too complex! Because the tumor attaches itself to your pituitary gland, no surgeon will be able to remove it all. The goal will be to make it smaller. Those who have microadenomas will not have surgery...too risky. Instead you will be managed by medication and periodically.

I have been taking thyroid medication since my surgery and just recently started daily injections of growth hormones. This tumor won't kill you per se, but it will cause lots of other medical issues. That's why you need a good endocrinologist. I hope this has helped.
