There is a person that I work with that has told people that he can no longer drink alcohol because he had his spleen removed. He used to be a very very heavy alcoholic, so we thought he was using this as an excuse to get a job. So can a person still drink with a removed spleen? Please help me out and give me an answer.Thankyou
i had my spleen removed as a 15 year old and was recommended not to drink my surgeon, because the spleen has a lot to do with the immune system. so lacking one i have a lowered immune system and as alcohol also lowers your immunity it is generally not a good idea
I had my spleen removed. And I have no problem with my drinking
i had my spleen removed when i was 17, i lost my spleen because of my drinking. i am know almost 36 and i still drink, at sometimes very heavily. so far i have been fine but have noticed that i get sick more and more often, doctors have said that there are vaccines that you can get to combat the lack of having a spleen. i have not been given that set of vaccines. however i do try to eat healthy and to keep my body and my surroundings clean. when these are not done i get sick. so i hope this helps.
