Hi, good people. The doctors have recently diagnosed a cerebral atrophy at my cousin. I know that he had some brain disease previously, but I am not sure which one. I would like to know whether it is possible for cerebral atrophy to be fully cured. I would really appreciate all your answers. Bye!
Hi, there. It depends on the cause of cerebral atrophy with your cousin. Cerebral atrophy is a result condition of various brain diseases. Those are traumas, infections, epilepsy, leukodystrophies, stroke, multiple sclerosis, Alzheimer's disease, etc. As you can suppose, all of these diseases are very serious. That is why the treatment is mostly symptomatic and supportive. Doctors try to make a patient capable for life. But it is hard to do that since the number and connections between neurons are decreased. But, some improvement can be achieved. That is why the family members must be very patient. And they mustn't give up hope!
Hello, My mother is suffering from diabetes since last 15 years and since past 6-7 months she is put on dialysis. And now she is diagonised with Cerebral Atrophy. I donno whether her partial brain cell's are dead or its about whole brain. But would like to know if this could be cured. Currently she is not responding at all. A very few reflexes lik.. opening eyse or yawning. But as per docs these can be considered as positive points. But good part is still she can respire on her own [ventilator is not required yet], her BP is mangeable.Would appreciate if I get some reply.
