Hello. I have some food allergies. I have no idea which groups of food I’m allergic to, but I think maybe lactose and gluten, at least. I started following Elimination diet yesterday. I think this diet is the right thing for me. A friend of mine has very similar problems, and she has been following this diet for two months now. She was supposed to do it for 21 days, but she likes it so much she says she is gonna follow it forever. I am glad she doesn’t have problems anymore, but I’m not sure about the extension of the dieting period. Can one do that? And can this diet become your lifestyle?
Hey there
I am sorry you have those allergies. I know how hard it is sometimes to be aware constantly what you can and what you cannot eat. My brother is also lactose intolerant and he sometimes feels really bad because he must always read INGREDIENTS on every single product. He always tells how lucky I am because I can eat whatever I want and I feel bad for him.
Another thing, it can be very dangerous when you don’t know which groups of food you are allergic to. You must make some tests to find out.
About the question you asked, I think this diet can’t become your lifestyle because it is very restrictive and you your body may lack many things with a strict diet like this.
Hello both of you
Mad_Hatter has a point when he says this diet should not become a lifestyle. Of course it can’t. I mean this diet is so restrictive that even a period of 21 days (which is recommended ) is some kind of a stress for the whole organism.
Elimination diet is created in order to help people with allergies, bowel problems, digesting problems and so on to find out which groups of foods are bad for them.
You can use it for the purposes I mentioned but when you find out to which groups of food you are allergic to, then you should stop with it.
