Locking your knees can cause you to faint but One is particularly more at risk when under high temperature or a high amount of stress causing you to stand (one who locks their knees) for a very long time. by locking your knees it decreases blood flow back to the heart which then less is sent to the brain. Blood comes back to the heart via VEINS the way blood moves in veins is by skeletal muscle along the veins and valves in them to hold the blood in place until pushed further up. by locking your knees your obviously not using much skeletal muscle except to stand up but the locking part can put much stress on those veins creating them to only circulate little blood back to the heart from your legs which is where alot of your blood circulates anyway.

It cuts off circulation to your brain which causes you to pass out!!!!!

AS A FORMER AND NOW RECENTLY RETIRED AIR FORCE MEMBER, i AGREE WITH YOU. DURING BASIC TRAINING, WE WERE TOLD THE SAME THING, AND DURING PARADES, WHERE WE HAD TO STAND FOR HOURS...SEVERAL PEOPLE SUFFERED THE SAME EVENT. SOME, DID IT TO ESCAPE PARADE CEREMONIES AND EXCUSE THEMSELVES. I WOULD LIKE TO SEE THEM DO THAT IN THE UNITES STATES MARINE CORPS I WOULD LIKE TO SEE THEM DO THAT, AND GET AWAY WITH THAT STUNT..

I've done this. By locking you're knees, you're restricting blood flow through the body by pinching an artery. After too long (generally 5 or so minutes) you will pass out.

My 12 year old son passed out cold in church today and I believe it was from locking his knees during the long prayer of the Our Father.  He was out for about 10 seconds and it was very frightening.  He later told me, he did have a slight pain in his stomach followed by a burning in his head.

It's definitely possible. I tried this today at school for about five minutes at break. After, while I didn't pass out, I was pale, light headed and I had blurrier (than usual) vision. If I tried it much long I would have gone.

Locking your knees does not cause people to pass out also known as (syncope). It does however cause you to fall like a board when you do pass out. You can pass out for a countless number of reasons but locking your knees is not one of them. It does however allow the leg muscles to rest which will lower the heart rate and the blood pressure due to someone not using their leg muscles which helps return the blood from your legs back to your heart. So the next time you wanna get rude with someone because you think you know something just kill yourself.

It might be another reason..
