A few years ago, my mom had a rather large tumor in her abdominal region, the tumor itself measured to be slightly larger than a human fetus. The doctor told us that once they removed it, it may or, may not grow back, but now she has a spot in her upper abdominal region, just below her breasts that is very hard. It's about the size of a hand, perhaps slightly larger, when she eats, her stomach hurts a lot and this spot in her upper abdominal region seems to puff out even more, after she eats.

We currently lost everything that we had in a house fire, identities, medical cards, everything that we ever had and as some of you may know, the road to recovery after a traumatic house fire is extremely difficult, so we really can't afford a $900 doctor bill just for them to take a look at her, I tell her everyday that she needs to go to a doctor, but she's stubborn, as am I.

Is there a chance that this thing came back or, could it be something else? I'm terrified that she's sick again.
Chels,

Yes there is a chance that it came back and yes it could be something else. Saying what it could be, without an exam, would just be speculation and cause you and your mom more anxiety. It could also be something minor, we can't tell.

She does need to see a doctor.

There may be options to cover the cost. In the US, the Department of Health and Human Service runs health care centers where you pay what you can afford. Some hospital have similar "free-care" pools. They look at your situation and will, in many instances, cover the entire costs. Try your local HHS office or give your doctor or the local hospital a call and explain the situation, in detail. Let them know about the house, etc. They can help point you in the right direction.

Hope it helps. Keep us posted.

Thank you for you reply, Dan.

I had no idea about those options, so I'm very thankful and glad that you recommended them.

She thinks that it may be a Hernia, but I really haven't witnessed many hernia's, so I'm not sure if a hernia can occur directly below the breasts or, not, but as I explained to her earlier, hernia or, no hernia, she needs to see a doctor as soon as we can get her in to see one.

I'll begin my search in the morning and then hopefully it will prove to be fruitful, I'm just so worried about her that I really can't seem to think straight.

So, again, thank you for pointing out those options.
