Neosporin also made my wound worse, blisters and awful itiching!
I had fallen and cut the palm of my hand. I was using Neosporin for two months. My hand finally got so bad I was considering a skin graft. I went to another doctor for a second opinion and he put me on silver cream and it healed up in a few days. It was the Neosporin preventing it from healing.
Definatly, I'm allergic to neosporin and polysorin
I applied neo on my FACE for some sun burns thinking it would help. OMG!!!! My face kept getting swollen and didnt stop, blistery, RED!!! I went to the doctor and he said I was allergic to NEO. I missed work and almost lost my job because it took sooo long to heal. NEO should have a red label saying "can cause allergic reaction or someting". By the way I AM allergic to PENACILLIN dont know if nyomicin is a family of it but if it is it makes sence. It was scary, I had a hard time brreathing and swallowing. The doctor gave me Prendisone. It is sooo sad. :(
I have reactions to neosporin, ploys poring and bacitracin by itself, I think in my case it is the bacitracin. I got an antibiotic in Italy which is an ointment made from erythromycin, and I can use that without problems (except the problem of how to buy it, unless I'm traveling to Italy.) I don't know why they don't sell it here.
I too am allergic to neosporin. When applied it causes redness, swelling, and tiny raised blisters. It also produces heat. i found this out when I applied it to a laceration on my face!!!! No fair neosporin.....
I'm allergic to neosporin too....
I had a small scratches and use neosporin. It made my scratches worst! I developed blisters around the scratches. I thought it was and infection.
My doctor said that arount 5-10% of the people are allergic to neosporin. He said that if I wouldn't put anything my scratches will go gone by now. He recomended to use Hydrocorisone for about 10 days. I'm in the 4th day and will see what happend...
Can anyone tell me if your doctor recomended the same or they prescribed you something stronger that Hydrocortisone?
Thanks!

Yeah I'm allergic to neosporin too!
My docotor didn't know what I was allergic too
Just have him try to aviod things like that.
More than likely your brother became allergic to neomycin sulfate which is an ingrediant found in Neosporin. Side effects of Neomycin include *skin rashes, itching or hives, swelling of the face, lips, or tongue, infection, redness to name a few.. Look up Neomycin Sulfate side effects for more info. I didn't know I would hv an allergic reaction to Neosporin. I woke up this morning to very swollen, burning, itching lips.. And redness after using Neosporin (A Triple Antibiotic Topical ointment) Scared me when I looked in the mirror. I had never experienced this reaction before. My physician informed me this morning of my allergy to it... And put me on a Corticosteroid for a week to help with the swelling etc.. I hope your brother stopped taking the Neosporin and reported the side effects to his doctor right away... He will need something to counteract those side effects.. But his doctor would be the best to contact ... My post is ONLY informing you that others like me found to have an allergic reaction to this antibiotic. Good luck!
