You must not have had that severe a reaction. The reactions I have had are quite vicious, you would not have been able to wait for your doc to look at them, you would have known within 24hours something was hella wrong. Thank goodness, but remember, when you are allergic, each time it can get worse. Don't EVER use it again.
Hi. One time I got a cut on my leg, and my parents put neosporin on a bandade with neosporin on it. The next day my parents took the bandade off to check the wound and there was a rash the size of the pad on the bandade. Without thinking my parents did the exact same thing with a larger bandade and they found the same result. We went to a doctor and he said that I am allergic to neosporin and recommended bacitracin. The wound was healed and the rash was gone within 2 days.
Agreed! I dont have that severe of a reaction, but sometimes I wont even go near the stuff in a store...
I had the same problem. Wound never healed, got worse. Be careful with pink eye Rx drops also. Had a very bad reaction to that also. Was taking the drops for a week and got worse! Swelling, limited vision, itch, lower inside eye lid starting peeling. Was told pink eye med's have same ingredients.
OMG, me also. I carefully used Neosporin to help heal cuts from a fall. Tonight I suffer from the drug repercussion ---- small welts and itch like crazy. I will not use thus product again.
It does the same to me. I thought it might be the cut healing as cuts itch when they heal sometimes but after the 3rd application it finally occured to me that something is wrong. I itch terribly and the area gets all puffy and blistery.
I am also allergic to Neosporin I used in on my first tattoo and it gave me thousands of little red bumps I have gotten 12 tattoos senses thin and as long as I don't use Neosporin on them I have been fine
I had a similar reaction to Neopsorin. I had a biopsy on my face, and used Neosporin for 3 days, covered with a bandage as instructed. I had some swelling under my eye and some bumps and redness around the site. I switched to Vaseline and hope it will improve.
Hi, I am allergic to neosporin too, have been for years, even the other kinds of sporin, like polysporin, no one else in my family is. I have 6 children and 6 siblings, one of my sons is allergic to flee collars. The person just has too avoid it and tell your doctors when you go.
Same thing with me.. I got badly injured from a fall during a run and after applying Neosporin, all three areas where there are wounds are itchy, blistery and so very red... The doctor said it's either Neosporin or cellulitis... We will see...
I am a RN, practiced for 40 years. During that time I never saw an allergic reaction to Neosporin - until Feb 2016. My cat scratched my leg and after cleaning it was using Neosporin cream - but it got worse, went to my doctor who didn't know what it was, and gave me a sulfa cream and tablets, since I'm allergic to penicillin. Not better in 2 weeks and she sent me to a dermatologist. When I showed him my wound he immediately said "I know what that is!" and called his office staff in to look and see if they knew - a good thing because they did not. I had a Neosporin burn - besides the weeping blisters the area was a fiery red. The itching was terrible and I also had hives- the itching and hives all over my body.I finally had some relief. He also told me that in his practice he had also seen an anaphylactic response with collapse. This can be a serious allergy, and many products may have a Neosporin in their makeup. When you tell tour physician you have an allergy, describe your symptoms to make it clearer to your provider.
I had a visit to the ER for a fall. I got stitches in my lip and had several scars on my face. I was told to use neosporin. Much to my surprise a few days later I noticed bumps around my lip and an itching and burning sensation. Come to find out, I am allergic to neosporin after a trip to urgent care. So yes it is possible. My PCP advised me that neosporin is not good to use and the physician that saw me at urgent care advised me to use Aquaphor.
What do you use instead of Neosporin?
Polysporin is what I use. I'm allergic to neosporin .
I believe you me. I put some on just two days ago to help my burns. Now my arm is inflamed with a red rash and bumps. It's itchy and annoying.
