I finally bought some... Nike somethingorother somethingorothers... I've forgotten the name of them already. I can't believe how light they are. I almost feel silly owning them because I'm nowhere near an elite runner and don't ever expect to be. Here's to knocking a few seconds off that 5k time though. Gonna run in them tomorrow and race in 'em saturday.
Ooooohhh, be sure to let us know how they work for you. I may need to buy a pair to catch up with you.

Definitely work a few tics. For 12km and under I use flats and am looking at a light trainer for 10M & halfM racing.
Good luck on Sat!!!

I'm wearing my flats for the first time in a 10k Sat. They feel like ballerina slippers (not that I know what that actually feels like). I also have that silly feeling :|

Yeah they are ridiculously light and kind of gaudy for my own tastes. Oh well.

Sweet!!! I'm serious, you WILL run faster.

I was wearing racing flats back when I could only run a 21 minute 5k. You are a consistent sub-20 these days, so you have lots of street cred. Don't be ashamed to sport the flats on race day!

Are these the ones you got?

Those aren't the ones. I looked for them on the roadrunner site but didn't see them. I'll try and find them elsewhere.

It's been statistically proven that wearing pink shoes makes you run faster....of course you have to or they'll catch you and beat you up.

I have thought about it, but for the cost and the amount of time I would use them and my lack of real super gain potential I have opted no.
Now in HS I did have spikes for CC and track and that did make a difference but I also did use them a few times a week.

though Rob you have me thinking, If I used them for my occasional speed workouts I wonder what difference that would make....

mmmmmm...

The fast dudes suggest that you wear racing flats in both your track workouts and races.
The theory is that the goal of your speed workouts on the track is to run as fast as you possibly can. The flats will help you do that.
I only wear my racing flats in races. I'm kind of big and I need the extra support and cushion of my regular shoes for speed workouts to help prevent injury.
