Interesting to note. I didn't require further injections - the cortisone did take the pain away. Should I ever require pain treatment again I will be much more extensive about research before I take anything. Injecting anything or taking any medication into your body always has risks and dangers - your body is meant to work without it, however sometimes we need treatments but it is our duty to be our biggest advocates and make sure what we are taking is safe and necessary enough to outweigh any risks. Good luck to you and all out there

I'm sorry to hear about your situation and I definitely empathize. All i can say is I am doing much, much better now. I still have extra weight but am much better and heathier than I was. It took about about 2 years to get to this good but it does get better. Best of luck to you

Yes it is definitely a quick method that does work to take the pain away and sure doesn't seem like they really care what happens to your body afterwords - just that your pain went away and they made the money. Our medical system now is absolutely atrocious - it's all about money and medicine, not about actually treating the patient like a person, preventing issues, and making them WELL. Can't even trust doctors now and it is just a very sad situation.

First of all I'm a SHE :) and I'm doing much better. Perhaps I did have cushings I don't know doctors never said that, they just wanted me out of their office basically. My metabolism has definitely shifted but then again I'm 33 now so it may have been where it is today without the treatment who knows. Either way I'm much better than I was so there is hope. I just hope I don't hnave pain like that again to worry about how to treat w/out cortisone!

Well, just wanted to check back in.  The facet injections helped me so much more than this epidural one did... and I have had more weight gain and stomach issues this time around too.  I was in so much pain one day last week that I almost called the doctor to schedule surgery.  I really, really hope to avoid fusion, or even disc replacement, which is what they want to do.  Gotta get my butt back to PT - it really was helping.

I agree with all your side effects as I am experiencing all the same. Am on my 20th day of my period and I have always been super regular. Having heavy blood clots, bloody nose, have stopped waking up drenched in sweat and peeing myself. It has been 1 month since my one and only injection. Can not do it again because I have so many side effects. My face is still so round and swollen which is the worse!!!

Hi, I have had extreme side effects since my c5-c6 epidural steroid injection. I had that disc replaced in 08 and had injections afterward. This last injection the Dr said oops hit some cerebral spinal fluid. I have not been the same since. I still had pain but now I have increased pain and extreme dizziness. I have neck, shoulder, pain in rt arm that has increased along with numbness and dizziness that the doctors are at a loss to explain. My depression is so bad that there are days I am in bed all day with pain, oh and I also have headaches that won't go away. No one understands. I have to use 2 canes or a walker when I go out. Good luck to you.

is there any way you can get a lawyer and sue? I am scheduled to have an epidural on the 18th of this month and now there is no way I will take a chance. I experienced a horrible slip and fall accident while in the store and My neck was completely messed up. The doctor suggested for me to get 3 epidural shots. Should I risk it?

I have been having neck problem for the past 1,5 years, was doing physical therapy, swimming and massages (which temporary helping), then my Dr finally sent me for MRI, where they found mild stenosis and told me to have 2 steroid injection-the first is going to be on monday and i have already cancelled a few before coz im scared to go do them to make myself feel worst and nobody is gonna help me after that ((( i have read about this all side effects and i would deal with them only if the injections helped me to rid of this pain which i have 24/7... anyway i have noticed that im having almost all of this side effects and even havent start my injections:) im completely lost and i dont know if i should risk and still do those injections, however in one year they may go away LOL P.s. i have seen other doctor who also told me to do those injections..

Had a c spine injection yesterday. Once in the wheelchair while being pushed to recovery I passed out and flipped the chair smacked face first in to the ground. It was very scary, had to be sent to another hospital emergency room by ambulance. CT revealed the injection had went into the spine. Had horrible headache, received a shot that helped. I am supposed to have two more injections, but I think I will not. I was so hopeful this would help my back pain. Has anyone found nothing else other than injection that will help?

Hi, I your post hit home with me. I had two cervical steroid epidurals. The first didn't help at all. On the second one, the doctor punctured through to my spinal cord and I was leaking cerebral spinal fluid. He made me wait for five days in horrible headache agony before he did a blood patch. That fixed the headache, but my back (at C-7 for the two epidurals and between T-2 and T-3 for the blood patch) feels like someone kicked me with a steel toed boot. After the blood patch, I felt dizzy and really weird. They gave my husband a wheelchair to push me out of the building with. They couldn't get me out of there fast enough. When I got in the truck, I had a huge painful cramp on my left side from the bottom of my rib cage up into the side of my face. If they had let me wait in the post-proceedure room for more than ten minutes, I would have been able to ask them what was going on. I honestly don't think these proceedures are in any way helpful. The doctor I had seemed to think that everyone that gets one should bounce out of their office on a pogo stick. I am trying to find a doctor who will FIX my neck instead of making me go through endless painful expensive proceedures. It will snow in hades before I ever go back there. Right now I am awaiting an EMG NCT and will find a doctor who knows what he is doing.

After two cervical epidural steroid injections and a blood patch because the doctor punctured my dura, I am having constant burning pain in my spinal column and head. After the second epidural, I developed a red rash the size of a dinner plate around the injection site (T-1 and T-2). I 4 have terrible itching and the neck, shoulder and arm pain is worse. I have bone spurs pressing on nerve roots, degenerative disc disease, bulging discs at C 4 through 6, and stenosis. After the injections, I am tired all the time, have dizzy spells, am nauseated, have no appetite whatsoever, even though steroids are supposed to make you hungry, I have aderenaline rushes and anxiety attacks and in general am miserable. My doctor won't release my information as to what he injected into me.  I want to know if the allergic reaction was to contrast dye, the steroid itself, or whatever they mix in with your own blood when the do the blood patch. I am depressed because I have no idea when this stuff will leave my system. I am always thirsty, and when I am not peeing, I am lying around itching and feeling sorry for myself. Any suggestions on how to find out what the drugs used were? Do I need a court order or something?
