Hello, I had anterior ( which isn't your question but more info helps ) C5 C6 & C7 done in 2006 using bone from my hip for the fusion. Started feeling pain again 4-5 months after surgery, doctor said it was still healing and that's where the pain was coming from. Problem was I had no pain at all after surgery until this episode. Went to a different surgeon who did an MRI which showed broken fusion @ C6 & C7. Had surgery done by new doctor who used hardware ( Titanium plate & screws ) this time. Now 15 years later there is a problem @ C4 which is causing arm pain & numbness in my left thumb & index finger. Been to 2 surgeons of which my MRI shows significant compression to my spine. 1 doctor says fusion is needed again the 2nd doctor says try Physical Therapy which I am doing right now. I've had improvement (16 visits ) so far but still have a little pain & occasional numbness. Recent visit the Doctor gave me a choice of surgery or more PT. I chose more PT because I have noticed both a pain & numbness reduction along with not wishing to have my throat sliced open for a 3rd time. My advice? Find the best surgeon available (@ a Teaching Hospital, (my son is 1/2 way to becoming a Trauma Surgeon his recommendation) if choosing surgery. My previous surgeons background was Harvard & Ohio State. He was a pompous ass which is the way I like my surgeon to be! Retired now.

C4 along with compression in your spine I bet. Well that's what I'm going through as I type this. I had C5-C6-C7 done with titanium plate and screws 15 years ago. I have numbness in left thumb & index finger pads along with compression in my spine now @ C4 & pain down my left arm. Get a Nerve Conduction Test ( NCV ). Wish you the best!

I had rotator cup surgery in 1992 by a doctor who was fixing baseball pitchers' shoulders. I'm a woman who was overweight and carried my heavy babies on my side. Over time I had stretchered out the tendon so it snapped. Once I had surgery with daily exercises I went back to a very busy home care nursing. I fell in 2019 and shredded my rotator so had a total shoulder replacement. As I told my patients the only way back was to do exercises until fully discharged from their doctor, If you get bored or lazy you can't heal properly. A 78 yr old retired RN

I had surgery for posterior cervical myelopathy on October 18, 2023! I woke up wearing a hard brace & will be taking it off on the 30th of November! For me the surgery worked in alleviating pain in my right neck! But I am looking forward to the fulfillment of Isaiah 33:24 for all very soon! I have a long road ahead for 12-18 months of healing!
