I had my tubes tied 5 years ago after I had a c-section with my 3rd son due to the advice of my ob dr saying that because of blood pressure problems and pre-eclampsia with 2 of my 3 pregnancies it would be dangerous to me and a baby if I got pregnant again I also did not want anymore children. I have never had a regular period and this month is no exception except I have been experiencing some of the symptoms of pregnancy, nausea, feeling tired, mood swings, etc. Could there be a chance that I am pregnant I am afraid to take a test or tell my husband I am scared that if I am will everything be alright.

I just turned 40 and had a tubal 11 yrs ago. Over the past few months, I have felt a little weird, nausea, strange periods (I even took a preg test several months ago = negative) but now I am feeling very "distinct" fluttering in my lower abdomen. I am for sure that they are not gas bubbles. Took a test today and it is negative...debating on whether or not I should consult doctor and get a blood test. Not sure I am wanting to have another one. My oldest is 20 and my youngest is 11. Help???

Hi, everyone...I just wanted to let you know that I had my tubal ligation(cut, tied, burned) 8 months ago, after the birth of my 4th child. I started to feel pregnancy symptoms and kept talking myself out of it ...well finally I said screw it and took a test, needless to say it was positive. I immediately went to Er to see if it was ectopic, and they said no it was in my uterus ....but ...they did not see yolk sac or fetal pole...so I followed up with blood work and another ultrasound and they said it was a missed abortion at 6 weeks and said I would miscarry. Well, I am writing this to see if anybody else has had a similar situation , where the tubal failed right after surgery. I also had an infection after my tubal , do not know if that had anything to do with it...I have heard of the tubes healing and growing back together, but in the matter of 5 1/2 months ?????

Hi, I have a similar concern, I had my tubal ligation almost 11 years ago when I was 25, and over the past several months I have been having every single symptom of being pregnant. My tubal from what I remember was just clamped, not sure if over the years my body healed itself or not. I missed my period in July 2010, and every month since then my period has only been 3 days and very light. I have had cravings, the sensation to urinate frequently, my emotions are all over the place, mainly I have been crying at the drop of a dime, and my abdomin seems to be firmer and rounder. I lost 50 pounds last year and I seem to have gained about 20 back over the past three months. I have also had a hard time sleeping for the past 5 nights. I have also been dreaming that I am pregnant. And my boyfriend has a vasectamy. Is it possible that we concieved because our bodies healed. I have a doctors appt soon, so I will be asking that is for sure. I have also taken a home pregnancy test, which has come back negative. I won't be disappointed if I am pregnant, just concerned for the health of the baby if I am.

I am completely freaked out. I read through all of your posts and I just am at a loss right now. I am not pregnant, in fact, I am on my very heavy period right now, even though it is a whole two weeks early. I have just started a workout routine, that may have thrown my body out of whack. But I had my HOPEFULLY last child, my 4th c-section, 16 months ago. At which time I also got a full tubal ligation. I do not ever EVER EVER EVEEEEEERRRRR want another child, EVER! My husband and I are done. We have been blessed with 2 girls and 2 boys, and we are done! I am 31. It would be absolutely horrible to find out I was pregnant, after 12 or 16 or so years after having my tubal. My last baby almost killed me. I needed two blood transfusions, a total of 4 units. I am sooooo done. Please please, someone please tell me how I can make extra special sure that I do not ever get pregnant again. Should I get an IUD for good measure? I don't want anymore babies. No more c-sections. Not now and especially not when I am in my golden years, rejoicing in my husband's and my newfound freedom, as our last child exits the house, lol.

I too am reading this and freaking out. Our children are 22, 19 and two years old. Our two year old was a HUGE surprise! Hubby and I had no plans of having another baby and I was told due to my medical history, my age and the fact that hubby and I didn't use protection for over 15 years that I need not fear getting pregnant, then, I lost 100lbs and about a year later I was pregnant. After my C~section I too had my tubes cut, tied and burned.....my periods have been like clock work since I had my last baby and suddenly I've skipped my period this month. After having such an unexpected pregnancy with number three, who can blame me for being a bit paranoid? I'm so scared that I'm putting off taking a test to find out. Hubby says I'm over reacting but, I know how I've been feeling, itchy breasts, feeling like c**p in the A.M, some smells are making me gag and I've been peeing a lot! But he keeps telling me that I'm nuts and that I CANNOT be pregnant. But, after reading all of this, I'm not so sure. :'(

I BELIEVE that if GOD wants you to be pregnant no matter what man does to prevent it you will be. That is why these are called miracles. All babies are miracles but to have one after man has assured you that you won't is truly an amazing miracle and it goes to show how amazing and powerful our God is. I had a tubal ligation (cut, burned, and tied) about 7 years ago and my period is late I have not taken a test yet but when I do whatever the results are I will give Praise to the One who makes the determination whether or not you get pregnant. Thank You Lord for all Your many blessings including pregnancies.

Ok, I have been reading and reading on the internet and probably stressing myself out even more than if I just let this go.  But....I am 42 years old, have three wonderful children ages 16, 14, and 11 and had all of them by c-section due to their size.  During my last section, I had my tubes cut, tied, and burned since our family was "complete".  I have always had Aunt Flo visit on a regular basis, had my regular OB-GYN annual check-up almost three months ago and everything was normal, no mention of menopause or perimenopause starting any time soon, and my last period ended on March 17th! Here it is May 5th and no visit from Aunt Flo!!! My husband says I'm just stressed and read too much into things.  I am hoping he is right.  I just do not see how someone at my age with tubes that are nonfunctioning for so long could possibly be pregant.  I took a generic home pregnancy test two days ago (which would make me taking the test after being almost three weeks LATE) and the test was "inconclusive" meaning it was too light to verify results.  It wasn't a name brand test but I am quite sure it would have the same type stuff as an expensive one right? I have been having light PMS symptoms off and on since April 12th when my period SHOULD have started....light lower backaches, hormone headaches (which, at times, aren't so light), bloating, fatigue, white calcium deposits in my nails, etc. but no nausea or cramping in the front.  I usually have cramping around the tubal area in the front and that has been completely absent.  VERY strange.  I am hoping it is just perimenopause coming on because the horror stories of tubal pregnancies and cysts are just too much to think about right now.  I plan on calling the doctor at the end of this month (May) if my period has not gotten here.  I am just not sure what else to do at this point.  Hopefully Aunt Flo will make a return visit soon.  I need a rest from these symptoms!!!!
