Chlamydia Treatment with Doxycycline

i found out last monday i had chlamydia, i took the medication correctly, doxycycline twice a day for a week, got told to not have sex for a week after finishing treatment. why is that? does the antibiotic take that long to cure it ?

did ur situation get cleared if so what was the outcome. Im in the same EXACT boat!

my partner was diagnosed of having chlamydia , he had a swollen testicle. he got treated with antibiotics in the hospital. he has to take antibiotics for two weeks, i went to the clinic and they only gave me two pills to take in the clinic and my doctor said im cured. but i still have bacteria in my vagina. he gave me anibiotics to take twice a day for 7 days. does this mean i will no longer have chlamydia ?

You are almost certainly still infected. Doxycycline won't cure stupid.

I know from personal experience. I went undiagnosed for YEARS and am now suffering from PID and have my SECOND surgery coming up to repair the internal damage the infection has wrought throughout my internal organs.



Also, The "Clap" is actually the slang word for Gonorrhea not Chlamydia!

It sounds like maybe you should be tested for PID(pelvic inflammatory disease) It is a complication of chlamydia. Especially if you went untreated for awhile. The infection causes scar tissue and adhesions to form in your pelvic, in and around your reproductive organs and can lead to sterility if its not found early. It does cause chronic pelvic pain, intermitent spotting between periods and during or after sex, and ALOT of pain during sex. You should definitely bring this up with your GP or Gyn, they can perform ultrasounds and tests but the most conclusive way to diagnose is through laproscopy. Good luck

There is a shot for this too. Rather expensive but it cleared up my symptoms in less than 3 days. Not saying it will for everyone but it worked for me.

ok well take it from me you should wait until after both you and your partner gets cured. Even though it may say one week later, it is best that you get retested and then if you find out that you and your partner are ok then it is ok. I have had chlamydia for a while now because me and my partner keep getting treated and messing up. So this last and final time i took doxycycline without sex orally or vaginally.

if you are diagnosed with chlamydia, you're partner(s) is/are positive as well. you may or may not have symptoms. you are suppose to be on meds whether it be doxy's and/or cefixime. take until finished, depends from 7-10days (doxy), 1 time dose for cefixime. you are NOT suppose to have sex (ANY KIND) until you finished the meds up and a week after. and are still supposed to be using CONDOMS thereafter.
don't be stupid and slip it in within the medicated days. you might need to start over with the meds again. plus like any other antibiotics, symptoms may stop on 3rd-4th day, but meds should be taken until finished since infection may come back after a few days. this is always a common misconception about antibiotics.

i got chlaymdia ages ago and my doctor only gave me one tablet but im seeing that u should have 7 not 1 should i go an get checked ? im talking years ago its so embarsing going to doctors about this sort of stuff

I took that Doxycycline on a Wednesday. The following Saturday I went out to the bars and took my boyfriend home...so about 2-3 am the following morning we had sex, with condom...but the thing broke....is there a chance I affected him? I got with him when I found out I had it...and that was the first time we had sex and he is clean...should we be concerned? ?

i just wanna say that the doc told me that if you dont wait at least a month to get retested it could cause a false possitive and ur stomach could be hurting from all of the antibiotics because they tear up your stomach especially if your body isnt needing them.

I am engaged and my fiance and I had a 3 sum with another male who had chlamydia and only I got it. I got doxyclycline and took it for only a week but then came off it because I got sick and was scared to mix meds. my fiance and I havent been sexual since, so i know hes fine but I still have symptoms of it so I just started taking the meds they gave me before that I had left over, should I finish them then get checked? I just want it gone and get back to being sexual with my fiance...Im to scared that hed get it from me. someone help I am only 23, and have only slept with 4 people this is my worst nightmare and I have no idea how to deal Im ashamed I feel disgusting and my fiance hates that I am to scared to do anything with him :S HELP ME PLEASE ADVICE I NEVER DEAL WITH DOCTORS OR THOUGHT OF THIS!

I was recently diagnosed with chlamydia after having abscess on my vulva for almost 2 years now. I've been to a vulva specialist, OB GYN, and finally to my dermatologist (who diagnosed chlamydia)...I had 3 minor surgeries to remove the abscess, had it cauterized almost every other week, it never go away.

Remember to eat before taking Doxycycline andots recomended that you do not lay down for at least an half an hr I'm currently taking Doxy - stomach hurt after my first dose, and doctor told me what I said above. I'm 20 and it's soooo scarey. Q- should I sanitize underwear?? Or is a normal wash ok?
