I have had a copper uti for the last 4 years and loved it. I had a heavier flow and worse cramps but I felt it was worth it considering I didn't have to deal with the hormones in birth control. However, six months ago I got a uti and even after taking antibiotics it came back each month after my period. Doctors kept giving me macrobid and cipro, but each month the infection returned. Doctors even told me to take an antibiotic each time after intercourse but I did not like the way my body felt after taking all of these pills. Today I finally got my IUD removed and I hope I will finally get relief. Thank you to everyone for sharing your stories. Having something wrong with such a delicate part of the body is terrifying. I find solace in the support of other women so thank you!

I got a IUD in June 2009, it was to help lessen the days and pain. My pain had increased and I've been on my period now for 8 days, every month its longer and longer. I also have had a UTI every month since August 2009. Thank you so much. I'm going to have it removed. It isn't helping at all. AT ALL.
