The doctors turn their backs on you the psychologists just pump more in to you and your life turns into hell.
My marrage has gone iv worked hard all my life and all though i am a capable person i cant hold down a job because of the way it has left me .
My hand shakes like as though iv got parkinsons and my cognitive ability is poor .
The slightest thing that is negative turns me to thinking black thaughts .
Sweats shakes blurred vision.
Just wonderful.
I Also need help its turned me from being a buisness manager into unemployable.

you are still having withdrawals after 10 months??? How long were you on it? I have been on Effexor XR for over 15 years. Been trying to ween off the last 10. I am currently on 37.5 mg every other day. If i miss one dose I am a non-functioning mess for at least two days. I want off BAD, but can't imagine going through 10 months of brain zaps, nausea, insomnia, sweating, shivering, uncontrollable crying, etc.

Please let me know if a lawsuit comes about. I definitely want to be a part of it.
I was prescribed this drug 21 years ago and began trying to ween off of it about a year ago, and have not been taking it at all for almost a month. The year has been horrible, I haven't been able to work in the accounting field any longer. I'm just not myself anymore. I've had all the same unbearable withdrawal symptoms as you all have had....horrible brain flashes, dizziness, confusion, can't focus, depersonalization.
(The sad thing is that I don't think I ever really needed it in first place. I was in the beginning of a divorce and was seeing a psychiatrist connected with my church who originally prescribed it to me....then my primary doctor continued prescribing and increasing my dosage.)
100% an addictive drug.

Hi again, I just read what Angelica Giron, MD wrote (above), that symptoms could last about a week. Ridiculous....she should be included in the suit.
To the guest above who has reduced to 37.5 mg. You could try what I did....with the 37.5 tablets, I cut them in half and took that each day for a while then halved that for a while. (I then actually was moving and lost them, so just stopped. Was horrible for a while, but since I wasn't working, I just stayed off anyway. As I said before, still not myself, have constant dizziness with intensity varying, and still having mild brain flashes. You can do it!

What do y'all think about suing our doctor?

I am in the US and I don't believe they have the caplets here, unfortunately. I would love to try that method. Taking the little balls out of the capsules doesn't sound like it really works.

It took me four years...four years of testing o find out why I was feeling so incredibly horrible. I was having what many call brain shivers. I could actually hear when I moved my eyes back amd forth. Turning my head or any slight movement would send me into a terrible feeling. A friend of mine described it as tripping out. It is the worst feeling in the world. It actually caused me to have panic attacks knowing that the feeling sensation was happening. I was tested for everything, and went through many costly tests. Only to accidentally find out on my own and talking to my friend that happened to be on effexor that if missed a dose it would make me feel this way. I have been off Effexor for months but still struggle with this feeling. It has consumed my life. I can't even work. This medication has destroyed my life, not to mention my husbands and children's. I hate this medication. The creators had to have known. WELL they sure do ow and they don't warn or change the medication. IT'S horrible, so horrible.

It's been over 5 years for me that I've been off this drug. I'm still having problems. Just about a year and a half ago, I developed Tourette's. So on top of everything else, I chirp and it is very alarming to those that haven't been informed of my condition. I believe there is some permanent damage. I am again in the process of finding out more. I have since moved to a new state. Hoping this helps get some answers.

May I ask how you got off effexor? I am planning a controlled withdrawal over the holidays. If you're still feeling withdrawal symptoms after 4 years, I'm terrified the same will happen to me as I've been on the meds for so long.

Following post. As I have been taking this monster drug for almost 13 years. The side effects are terrible. You definitely know if you miss a dose. Twice I have come off it when I was pregnant. It was torture! But soon had to go back on it. It is addictive :(

I had no idea my body chemistry changed radically - to be severely addicted to Effexor. It does not do a GREAT job of being an anti-depressant, but I was off it 3 months, like fiberglass in my muscles and joints. Basically my horrible symptoms were what is listed for MS Muscular Dystrophy and no doctor knew what it was, or thought I was simply making it all up for attention. Now I have bladder and bad memory problems, I feel scared.
