This is regarding my mother in law, age 84, who is general good health, works in her garden, drives well generally active. She has most recently developed red and purple spots before her eyes. She has seen her doctor, who initially was going to send her to another doctor in 2 weeks. When she called back that they were increasing, he referred her to another doctor who comes into our town weekly and will see her this Wednesday 9/19/07. She is thinking this is an emergent issue and I'm not sure it isn't, bu I'm also not sure she is making something out of nothing. Could this be a detached retina? She thinks she heard something about macular degeneration, but this doesn't seem to fit the definition. What do you think, generally, as I know you can't give specifics having not seen her.
I know one girl who is complaining about seeing colored spots since she was 19 years old. She was seeing doctors all her life. They were doing all kinds of tests including MRI and everything always seems normal and nobody couldn’t say what is wrong. Afterwards she has discovered that she has astigmatism and she started to wear contact lenses but this is it. She still has the same problem and still no answer. If you get some more information it would be great to share your experience with us and how your mother was diagnosed and what sort of treatment she was recommended.
Thank you in advance for your answer. Good luck.
