Sir: To get away from major hydrocodone withdrawal I cut my normal dose in 1/2 each day for 2 weeks,
then i took the 1/ 2 and cut it into quarters for 2 weeks and then too one pill and cut it into 1/4's and took 1/4 each day for 2 weeks. Had no withdrawal issues. I took Hydrocodone for 11 years. (one pill a day and 2 if I played golf, due to arthritis in my hands)

An opiate derivates from opium, and a opioid is a semi, or synthetic man made drug that works like an opiate. Adding to your other information, no one becomes addicted if taking opiates when truly needed.

Of course that doesn't include long term. A few days, a week, I've never seen it.

I have been taking tramadol and Xanax together for quite some time but like this person said Do Not take with grapefruit juice ever. If your having problems it has probably to do with the grapefruit juice and the mg of the Xanax your taking, talk to your doctor or pharmacist even better.

I would like to respond to all those people saying that Tramadol is addictive. Psychological addiction to Tramadol is a total joke. You can be psychologically addicted to anything. I used to take Celebrex which is an NSAID. Then I found out that my kidneys were failing. You can't take NSAIDs with bad kidneys. When the nephrologist told me I couldn't take my Celebrex I freaked out. I'm talking serious freak out. Like panic attack freak out. I didn't think I could live without my Celebrex. Now I would call that psychologically addicted. Also I'm psychologically addicted to food. I know people who are addicted to sex, gambling, And of course alcohol. You can get psychologically addicted to people. It's called codependency. Being psychologically addicted to drugs is the same as being psychologically addicted to anything that taken in excess and harmful. So my doctor put me on tramadol for my pain. I have no inclination to take more than my prescribed dose. Maybe I have a high tolerance to Tramadol. I take 100 mg twice a day and it doesn't do anything but take the edge off my pain.

You are crazy. You talk about overdosing like if it was a really fun hobby. How in your right mind think that it’s ok? None of these drugs should be use for recreational use, and should be use responsibly. Encouraging someone to go and use Tamadrol or Xanax as they wish without a doctor’s supervision or prescription is very negligent.

I can barely walk without taking neurontin and mobic, so my DR added tramadol. I also take 0.5 xanax twice a day. Now my Dr.'s one internist and one psychiatrist say I can either suffer pain No tramadol or suffer with anxiety No xanax, because I have to choose. The DEA seems to keep jumping these drugs around on the Schedule dea list. BS. I am 62 years old with arthritis. I want to walk and be on the same playing field mentally as everyone else until I die. It is not fair that at the end of my lifetime I should have to choose. I did everything right when I was younger: watched what I ate, ran all the time, was a dance instructor, drank milk, took vitamins, etc. just so I would be in better shape at my age. And yet for what reason? Here I sit having to choose to move in tremendous pain or be crazy in the head. What a loud of c**p. If it was the dr's or someone in power, you bet if they were in the shape I am in they would receive illegally whatever drug they needed. why should Americans have to live in some type of pain in their golden years It is a travesty. I have no idea how I am going to be able to function since I am a widow and live alone. Like anyone out there gives a damn.

I am the same. Been told I have to CHOOSE between xanax or Tramadol. I've taken xanax for 20+years for ptsd, panic disorder and anxiety Disorder.. small dosage maybe 1 mg every other day. NOW I need a hip replacement at age 63 and the pain is excruciating. I agree. We shouldn't have to live like this at our age. I did everything right too when I was young. Worked out. Kept in shape, never got over 120 pounds. And for what???? THIS c**p?!?!?!
