10 weeks on and still fine. Bowels loose at times but can live with that. Spoke to friend's sister who had same op in may and said she has gained aver a stone in weight since - but she was on the large side before and lost weight due to CB illness and states she eats chocolate in bulk. My weight remains steady and am eating and drinking normally - all foods, though I am not a red meat eater and tend to stay off fried stuff but for fish and chips now and then. I will get my liver function tested in a few months time and will post result FYI

Just had my Surgery 7 days ago, and am feeling a bit better today... but its still early. Everyone was saying get it done, get them removed.. and I wasnt sure..still not sure if I would rather have left the gallbladder in and dealt with it.. but its over an done with. When will I feel normal again? Will I ever? My sister had hers removed almost 2 years ago.. and 2 stones came back..oh great!! =(.. But it really feels like somethng isnt right and is not going to be for a while. Dont like that I can go to the restroom as often as I was used too. Right now my throat is still irritated from having the surgery.. Cant eat or drink anything..just water..

I my surgery 4 days ago. No feeling great yet. Everyone had said that it would be quick and easy. That I would be back to normal in days... WRONG! 2 days later I went into the car - Not driving- and when I came back I was bleeding from my bellybutton. Got scared and called the dr. He said it was normal. He I am on Fri after surgery on Mon and I feel still tired and with discomfort. I did not want to take meds, but I felt better after taking them... silly to think about being brave. I hope next week I'll feel better when school starts for the kids.
I am in good physical shape, but this really surprised me how long my body is taking to recup. The other posts made me feel better thanks everyone

I'm 13 days post op from my gallbladder surgery. I have had some great days and not so great days. I think the not so great days come from feeling better and then trying to do too much. I've heard and read so many stories good and bad. I guess I'm just going to have to believe the best for now. Yesterday was stress full for me. My daughter came and brought my grandchildren and the baby cried for about 2 hours straight. I was doing fine to begin with, but then started experiencing a sharp pain in my chest where the gallbladder was. Ugh! I didn't let up even after pain and anxiety meds, except that I did sleep some. Still had it this morning and called the Surgeons office who I must say is Wonderful about answering any questions. The Nurse said it is normal and probably had to do with getting so stressed. So I tried to get out for a while today and then realized I needed to rest. Back home with my 5 year old and took a nerve pill and more pain meds. If it is not better by morning, nurse said to call back. I've heard some folks say it can take a couple of months to get back to feeling normal. I'm going to give myself that much time and pray a lot and hopefully by then things in my body will have calmed down. I will repost at that time. Right now digestion is not too bad. I'm trying to stay away from fatty foods, and eat healthy! I am actually losing weight but have heard some people gain. My family wants their mother back, this had been going on for seven months because first GI doctor diagnosed me as having gerd and said the pain was in my head. When the good surgeon took my gallbladder out it had been so inflamed that it had attached itself to the fat from my abdomen, it had actually grown around it. And it was filled with sludge. He said it had probably been giving me problems for years!

Had gall bladder surgery 6 weeks ago and still have diarrhea after every meal. Sometimes I can hardly make it to the bathroom. I can't go very many places and am afraid to eat. My stomach still hurts and sometimes I have similiar pains as I did before the surgery. I'm only 23 and this is really hurting my life and finances. I've had an extensive work up - the MRCP was clear -no gall stones, no sphincter of oddi dysfunction.
Immodium causes constipation.
Any suggestions?

I had my gallbladder removed a year ago. I am and always have been a healthy young female. One month after having my daughter, I had my first gallstone attack...which was worse than 36 hours in labour!!! I then had 2 more attacks in the following months. I finally decided having the surgery to get my gallbladder removed. Surgery went fine, no complications. Ever since the surgery, I have diarrhea pretty much every day. I also wake up at 5 am about 5 times a week with stomach pains...where the incision was. I am told this is fairly normal for the first few years as my body is healing. Thought I would let others know if they are considering getting the surgery. I would have still had the surgery, if I had known about my side effects. The gallbladder attacks I was having were so bad, that I couldn't bare the thought of going through it once more.
