I have been told that acidic foods activate it. So that means no coffee no vinegar and certainly no kombucha. Anyway I was told that the urinary tract gets irritated and stays that way until you get a break. I recommend drinking a glass of water with 1/4 to 1/2 tsp of baking soda and see if that takes the burning away for a while. If it does, eliminate acidic foods and drinks for a while and see if that takes care of it.
I got a UTI and felt like the UTI transferred from my uretra to my vulva and it's been 3 years since I have that burning sensation. I have been to different OBG doctors but nobody seems to know what I have. I have also taken a lot of diflucan for yeast infection and also inserted some bacterial suppositories and nothing will help. I did take several medicine for UTI. At this point I believe I'm helpless. Mine also feels like sometimes goes to my Anus. I slept with different people within short period of time and I believe that was the cause of my cystitis. Once I have been with One partner it the UTIs went away. Now it's just the burning on the vulva and lips.
I had the same problem for years! I found a couple of remedies: baking soda water, Cystex, heated pad on lower back, please read explanation:
I suffered from age 16 to 29. Doctors put me on antibiotics and pushed cranberry juice, cran supplements. I stumbled upon a thread that had suggested drinking baking soda/sodium bicarbonate mixed with water, about 1/4 tsp to 8oz water ratio. This actually helped, but a year later I developed heart burn problems. I was finally recommend a urologist, who diagnosed me with cystitis, (which cranberry anything causes the bladder to flare up bad, invoking more vaginal burning) and pumped my poor bladder with sodium bicarbonate! (That's how they treat it.)
But here's my real relief....the urologist suggested I start an over the counter supplement called Cystex. I get it at Walmart or Walgreens or CVS. It's right next to the cranberry supplements. It works for me and it costs me $11 ! Here's the twist for me. Cystitis and IBS run hand in hand, and when I'm struggling with IBS the Cystex, though helps a bit, it's not 100%, I have to let my bowels run its stupid course and then all better.
Another think that helps me is actually laying on a heated pad on my lower back. Took me years to figure that out, but it helps way more that trying to numb the south parts alone.
My burning problem was a bladder allergy issue and an IBS issue. Only a urologist can diagnose these and most doctors didn't think or didn't know to suggest I find one.
