Hello! My school friend is about to have an Orthognathic surgery. I know it has something to do with teeth, as he has braces but I don’t know exactly what it is. Can somebody tell me more about orthagnathic surgery? Thanx 4 UR time!
Orthognathic surgery is not just about teeth. When the jaw is not properly developed or proportioned, problems like difficulty chewing, jaw and facial pain, speech abnormalities and dental problems may occur. So, orthognathic surgery is used to treat a variety of facial and jaw abnormalities in which the facial bones and teeth are not correctly developed. Sometimes, these problems can be fixed with braces but sometimes braces do not help, like in your friend’s case.
