Well as an adult male who lifted incorrectly I've been paying  for it in hemorroid hell.

However I did have two bandings in the last 5 years and both gave me great relief.

I had only needed one visit but the Doctor asked me if the two others should be banded? Like when should the patient decide on the  table? My bad ...should have said YES !!!

Anyway I'm going back for two more real soon and take care of the hanging chads...no pain no gain girls.

I had 4 internal hemorrhoids banded over 2 months ago, march 15th, i am here to tell you that i will neeeeeever have it done again, i am so afraid to go to the bathroom that i will hold it at all costs for days and then when i have not choice but to go, it takes up to 60 plus minutes and alot of crying, not to mention i am laying on the couch the rest of the day because i can't sit and it feels like my anus has been turned inside out. TMI LOL!!!!  i am 56 years old and i don't cry easily anymore so i a here to tell you it hurts.  i called my doctors office and the nurses tell me that all is normal and not to worry it will get better.  When i ask, this is not right, we should be given all the facts before we are put through such things.  my hemorrhoids bled alot before banding, but alittle blood lose is better than precious life moments. Get all the facts and weigh them carefully and proceed with caution!!!!!!

Hi all....this is truly making me depressed.  I have had TWO hemorrhoidectomies.  One after the birth of my son almost 4 years ago and one in April.  Plus I had banding done the last week of June.  I don't know why I am being punished with these hemmorhoids, but I seem to have a propensity for them.  I am vegan and eat well.  I just began to exercise-more running-but every exercise it seems can irritate them.  The pain from the hemmoridectomies was atrocious.   I did not have much pain from the banding--just the feeling that I had to make a BM constantly.  Today I had the worst BM since I did the banding.  It was like the bm wouldn't pass-made my stomach hurt and all (the bm wasn't hard or sharp)--and a HUGE hemmy is there now--I just cried because I am soooo tired of this. I know what is in store.  I can't take another hemorrhoidectomy. It's crippling.  A few times I took the Milk of Magnesia and chased it with prune juice in the evening or at night---just to make sure I had a good day the next day.  I'm to the point now that I dont want to eat anything.  I know that is not normal--but I feel I have nothing else.  My hemmies  drop even when I urinate.  i just don't understand.  I'm tired.

Holy mother of god, the pain is like a urine tract infection, intense period and and a massive poo with spikes sitting permanently in my rectum throbbing. Dr said it would not hurt and gave me nothing for the pain. Only very hot baths seem to help. Dear lord.

I just had them done without sedation and only a local anaesthetic gel. Hardly felt a thing. Only problem is cramps/wind due to pre exploratory procedure of my bowel. Taking pain killers to help with anaesthetic wears off. So far not a major issue...although I'm not looking forward to bowel movement.

Went through hem banding for one large internal on Monday. Dr told me that I should have some discomfort for a day or two but back to normal in three days, which was important in my decision to have it done because I am attending a big dance on Saturday. Well, it didn't work out that way. Day 1 was uncomfortable with minor pain into the evening. No bleeding. Day 2 was constant, but mild burning and throbbing, but tolerable, so I went to work. Traces of blood. That night, I didn't sleep much. Day 3 had episodes of minor to moderate burning and throbbing, but still tolerable. I was on my feet all day at work. The short drive home was very uncomfortable and that evening was intense pain for 4 hours until I fell asleep exhausted. More traces to spotty bleeding. Today is Day 4 and I am experiencing minor burning and discomfort; however, having not slept for two nights now has really impacted me. Pain is the worst when driving for longer than 5 minutes. So, the dance this weekend is a 90 minute drive away. How do you think I feel about that? Having read many other posts, it looks like I may be in for at least another week of sleep loss, bleeding, and minor to severe burning pain. On a positive note, BMs have been quick, strain free, and only mildly painful, with quicker clean-up than before the banding (except for the blood). I will post again next week.

Ok, evening on Day 4 was better with only minor discomfort. Day 5, I felt about at 90%, but didn't feel comfortable exercising. I was able to do the drive the next day and have been normal with only a hint of discomfort occasionally. Now, it has been a week and there is some itching, probably from healing. But, the pain has not returned. Let me tell you, those first 4 days involved some severe discomfort. I was not prepared for that. Better now.

I had a banding 2 days ago. Very slight cramping for a couple hours. Cramps not even strong enough to take Tylenol. I had a bowel movement 2 hours after and no issues what so ever. Less than 24 hours after banding I ran 5 miles with no pain or discomfort. Banding is quite easy. After experiencing a thrombosis in the hemorrhoid, I knew banding couldn't be as painful!

I just had a ligation done yesterday, but I can't find anyone with an experience similar to mine. I thought I had a thrombosed external hemorrhoid, but it was an internal one that prolapsed & became very large. The dr was able to push it back in (I have no idea how- but it was SO painful) & then did the banding. The pain was very intense yesterday & because I'm pregnant I have only taken Tylenol. Today I felt much better pain-wise, but the pressure is intense. I feel like I have to have a bowel movement but I can't. I've taken citrucel & colace. My biggest fear is that the dr told me my hemorrhoid may come back out, in which case I would need surgery (my biggest fear). So I'm overly paranoid about trying to have a bowel movement in fear of surgery. The procedure yesterday was the worst pain I've ever felt - & I've given birth naturally. I would still choose that over surgery though. Does anyone have a similar experience? Should I worry about using the restroom?

I had 3 internal stage 3 and 4 roids banded 2 days ago. The weird thing is I know I have 4 but he said only 3 need to be done. Seemed like a good doctor but i had to do it in Europe with private payment because in Canada I was getting screwed around for 8 years while suffering from painful roids. The pain was dull burning right after the procedure but at times I get hit with intense throbbing pain. Bowel movements feel like I am trying to pass a razor blade through my rectum. Sitz baths, ice packs are no help. He told me I'll need tylenol and i instantly insisted on something stronger. Luckily I read peoples experiences on this forum because without the pain meds i wouldn't be able to sleep or slightly function due to pain.

Wow...Im glad I read these posts after I had the banding procedure or I might have been too scared to go through with it. I had two bandings done last Fri. felt some pressure but not too bad. Took 2 ibuprophin & felt fine within an hour. Went shopping...a christmas party the next night... more shopping on Sun...then work on Mon. Bowel movements havnt been too awful, still waiting for them to fall off & out. I would definatly recomend this procedure.

I wrote about my experience approx two months ago. I had an internal hemorrhoid that became external during my pregnancy. I recovered from my initial procedure- after a couple days I felt completely fine. I ended up having to go back twice for follow-up bandings, but the discomfort was minimal each time. I didn't require any medication for pain- the only discomfort was from slight pressure like I needed to go to the restroom. The pressure lasted only the day of the banding, then I was back to normal. I'm now eight months pregnant & feel great. The dr recommended taking citrucel which has helped immensely. I don't have to go back for any more follow-ups unless I have complications during delivery. I highly recommend banding vs surgery.

Had 3 internal hems banded yesterday under anesthetic, first 6 hours after procedure felt ok just drained with a little discomfort, then the feeling of having to urinate & bm came on but nothing would come out that kept me up till 5am & to be honest was a pretty bad feeling, felt a little better when I woke up at 8am then throughout the day felt better & better, had 2 bowel movement which came out fine & was able to urinate as normal Sum it up your first 24 hours will be uncomfortable but the pain/discomfort should clear up quick after that, best to do it on a Thursday & take Friday & the weekend off for recovery as every case is different, for me I wouldn't hesitate recommending banding if you need it done, but two tips: 1: get it done under anesthetic, you wake up it's all done & the dr's are there to sought out any pain issues 2: make sure they prescribe you with some proper pain killers not over the counter c**p, they gave me Targinact 5mg which has Naloxone in it which helps avoid constipation, works very well imo All the best
