Thank you! I am going to try this theory. It certainly can't hurt.

Hello,

I had no idea that there were others 'out there' who also experienced a painful distended tummy as I have been for many years.  It is such a relief to read that all of your symptoms are the same as mine.  I not only experience this painful bloating if I don't answer my hunger pangs in time, but it also occurs when I have my remedial massage or have been sitting at the hairdresser for an hour or longer.   This really confuses me, however, I have put it down to gas becoming trapped in my intestines.
Does anyone also experience loud gurgling and rumbling while your tummy is bloated and painful?  I have been dairy, gluten and sugar free for ten years now, and deleting these foods from my diet hasn't helped in any way.  I also take a probiotic each morning.  Perhaps eating fermented foods such as saurkraut which also provide good bacteria for our gut may help.  Anything is worth a try.
I honestly thought that I had something ridiculously weird going on in my body that no one else experienced.  So thank you to all of you for your posts.
Let's hope we can support each other in a way that will rid our bodies of this problem once and for all.
Have a lovely day everyone.

Yes to the gurgling and strange noises. It almost sounds like the scene from Dumb and Dumber where Harry is driving in the Lamborghini to his date and the turbo-lax is starting to kick in and take effect. I mean it is audible from several feet away. Luckily my last occurrence 2 weeks ago was the last time I have dealt with this issue but I have not found ANYTHING even remotely related to why this occurs after countless hours of searching. As with youself I consume virtually no dairy, grains or sugar alcohols which are definitely known to cause major gastointestinal complications yet I can't pinpoint the problem.

All of you people need to do a bowel cleanse and a parasite cleanse! I just did a two month cleanse and this is the answer. We are all full of parasites and we don't know it. Hulda Clark and Hannah Kroeger are the pioneers in this field, but M.D.s and even most naturopaths are treating symptoms and not the root cause of the problems. I took H. Kroeger's Wormwood Combination and DE (food grade diatomaceous earth) to kill parasites. It works! My gut was full of all kinds of parasites: worms, flukes, and parasite egg pods. We ALL have them and we aren't educated to cleanse them. They cause the gas and bloating, they crave the sugar and junk foods. They create bacterial conditions that promote candida (yeast) growth. This creates the gas and belching. Eventually pain. Yes, you need to take lots of probiotics too. I took digestive enzymes to clean off the intestinal walls and restore the integrity of the walls. My intestinal walls were covered with old parasite eggs "pods" that were covered over with flesh. They looked like small reddish brown grape like things. I passed many of these after I killed off the live parasites. Parasites can cause blockages in the gut, hence lots of intestinal movement and growling down there. I started with the herbs and immediately saw a lot of parasite debris passing out of me. Tapeworm parts look like sesame seeds and "rice". We all have them. Roundworms are soft and fleshy and DE will cut them up (it's tiny silica crystals). I took bentonite and psyllium shakes to clean out my gut, to pull off the old gunk. I didn't have much, because I eat healthy. But some people have a massive amount of mucoid plaque (if they have been eating meat, cheese, junk foods all their lives. Most of the parasite tests that M.D.s do come back negative! They won't treat you seriously, they'll just give you antacids. Don't take pharma for parasites, it won't kill the eggs. Get online and get yourselves educated. Look at Markus Rothkranz youtube video on parasites. Look at Hulda Clark and Hannah Kroeger. Parasites are the underlying factor in most autoimmune diseases: chronic fatigue, fibromyalgia, lupus, GI problems, cancer. If you don't cleanse, you will likely develop cancer from all the fungus growing in those bacterial and candida conditions. I bought the DE from wolfcreekfarm.net. They have several pages of info on it and it's application for parasites for humans and our pets. I also bought a zapper from them, to help drive parasites out and kill off bacteria. Kroeger Wormwood herbal costs less than $9 for every bottle which is a 16 day supply. Good luck cleaning up your health!

Wow!! thank you so much. I tried to post a reply about parasites last week, however, for some reason, it didn't go through. You are absolutely right. I saw my natural therapist last week and he is also a cellular biologist and a sclerologist. He is also affiliated with the Mayo Clinic. I told him about the distension and pain and he saw that I had threadworm. He went on to tell me that parasites need food to survive, however, when we are hungry and there is no food in our stomach, the feed off the faeces, hence, all that activity creates our distension and pain.
I was amazed. He then mixed me a concoction of cloves and wormwood and black walnut.
I have 7.5ml twice a day. And he prescribed pro8 each morning.
Tyler Tolman also has an amazing bowel cleanse that you can take for four to five days, then you can eat a food which he calls a Pulse based on an ancient recipe. You can google him.
I am pleased to hear that you have received positive results!
My diet is clean. I only eat organic whole plant foods, however, that doesn't mean that someone who eats well and is in good health, is not susceptible to parasites.
What a relief to know that we can now be proactive in bringing about great results to our wellbeing.
I will check out the youtubes, etc. that you have recommended.
Have a great day!

Yes, you are welcome. I just want to help people! Too many people are suffering with parasites. . .it is an underlying condition of over 70% of diseases. . . we only think about de-worming our pets and not ourselves. I can guarantee you that you have more than threadworms. Hulda Clark said that no one she ever tested for parasites tested negative for tapeworms, including her family and herself. Basically, we all have tapeworms, roundworms, pinworms . . . if you have ever eaten sushi you will have flukes. . .I'm not kidding. It is a crime that this is being overlooked in our medical care. I am mostly a raw foodist and I look very youthful for my age . . .but I wasn't feeling well . . I had increasing inflammation over the years. .. and finally a lot of pain. I thought that MMS killed parasites and I had taken it at high doses a few times for other reasons than parasites. . .but thought that it would have killed any parasites. No, MMS does not kill parasites! My gut was loaded with them. And now my belly is flat and the bloating of my arms and legs is gone. I had had symptoms of giardia 10 years ago . . . my medical test came back negative. The giardia settled in and my symptoms lessened so I just ignored fatigue and diarrhea symptoms for years. . .I mean I covered the symptoms over by eating a lot of chlorella etc etc. Basically I have been operating on low energy for this past decade when all I had to do was CLEANSE! I highly recommend the Kroeger Wormwood formula because it has quassia and male fern root besides the ones you list above. Make sure to treat for at least 6 weeks or you won't kill all the eggs. . .reproductive cycle is tricky. I also ate a lot of cayenne . . .sprinkled on my vegetable foods . . . and I took small doses of noni juice for discomfort and occasional pain. Another thing, the information listed on DE says that if you keep taking it daily, you will be protected from ever having a serious parasite problem because it will keep slicing them up, even the eggs. I hope it's true. I'm going to change the way I wash my produce now. . .get a good washing product. Be well and take care.

Thank you for the information on Tyler Tolman.  I did look at his site and youtube videos.  The info on "Pulse" is so interesting . . . sacred meal of the Egyptians.  I may try this in the future.

I recommended a parasite cleanse for this thread of people suffering from distended stomach.  And I want to qualify my recommendations by saying that I have been studying, reading, watching youtubes for a while now  and what I am seeing is that what works for digestive problems is also what cures or prevents chronic fatigue and other auto immune diseases.  Looking at Hulda Clark, Hannah Kroeger and Andreas Moritz especially . . . . these are the protocols for cleansing:

First do a bowel cleanse

Second a thorough parasite cleanse

Third do the series of liver gallbladder flushes as outlined in Andreas Moritz's book:  The Amazing Liver Gallbladder Flush. Watch him on youtubes, he has wonderful information. He was terminally ill until he found out how to flush out the stones.

I am preparing for my first flush this weekend.  I am so looking forward to passing the stones from my liver and gallbladder. Like parasites, we ALL have them (unless you were raised as a raw vegan). Feeling a little anxiety, but I know this is my next step toward total health and freedom from all digestive complaints and fatigue.

All the best to you seekers out there.

P.S. Hulda Clark recommends a kidney cleanse before the liver gallbladder flushes.  I am doing my kidney cleanse ongoing by drinking strong lemon juice.

I began having this exact problem at the age of 8 when my parents divorced and my mother married an extremely abusive man. I know it was brought on by the anxiety and depression plus poor diet of living in that environment and not being cared for.

I'm now 28 and continued suffering the bloating/hunger issues you describe until the age of 26 - when I became wheat/gluten free. It has had a huge positive impact on the hunger/bloating/eating issue and also all of my well-being and made me realise that I must have been gluten-intolerant all these years. Eating gluten if you're intolerant to it, can make you feel edgy/anxious, as your body feels under attack in a sense and I know I used to feel very nauseous and panicky after eating a gluten-rich meal (basically my body was going in to fight/flight response).

All of my anxiety has pretty much disappeared and the bloating only happens now and again, maybe a couple of times a month. I hope this works to help for you others who are suffering xx

Hello there, It seems that more people have anxiety of the belly these days than we realize! Gluten and stress, poor diet, anxiety......they can all add to problems. I am 55 and as I have written above, my symptoms are also like yours. I gave up dairy and gluten around 15 years ago, however, even though there was some improvement, the bloating, pain and gas did continue. Up until recently, in fact, just after my very first post, I was still experiencing this discomfort, and I was just at the beginning of a parasite cleanse. It worked a treat. I also did a four day colon cleanse using a product of Tyler Tolman's Conscious Lifestyer. I eat alkaline foods. I used to be a raw vegan which I tried only out of frustration to find a suitable way of eating for me.....and hopefully a pain free one. This didn't help, and I began to lose a lot of weight and became fatigued. It wasn't so much the raw vegan foods, but more that my naturopath and scelorogist found that I was intolerant to phytic acid or salycilates. It seems that many of us are. I couldn't digest foods that have a high salycilate content in them eg. broccoli. This has helped me tremendously and brought a lot of relief. If i 'go off the wagon' I notice almost immediately. So it is best for me to stick to what my body loves to eat and then to digest. Deep sea fish, good free range eggs, certain fruits and vegetables, no mushrooms or olives, no gluten, wheat, grains or dairy. He hasn't recommended meat or chicken for me. I have paw paw tea and a special parasite cleansing tea which I drink every evening. I still do get bloated from time to time and I wonder why, but I am trying not to focus on this in a negative way and direct my attention to more positive thoughts. I remember as a child that our family dinner table was very stressed and uncomfortable as my father was a disciplinarian and would abuse us verbally while we ate our meal. So, mealtimes were not enjoyable, and like your post above, our emotions can find an area in our body to remain until healed. I need to be mindful of what raw greens I eat as well, this is from my experience though. I have read in a book by Clive Lawler, Whole don't Mean Wholesome, that we are not ruminants as in a cow. We have one stomach as opposed to the four stomachs that our four legged friends have. So they can predigest their grass and greens in a far more efficient way than we can. Predigested foods are a good way to go. However, there are some raw vegans that do very well on this diet. I guess being the age I am with this problem being with me for all of my life (I used to vomit and scream in pain as a baby), that my digestive system is more sensitive. I wish you all a wonderful and happy journey as you discover a more happier way for you to live healthfully and peacefully. xx PS: i had a wonderful trip recently to Bali earlier this year. My very first visit. At the time I was a raw vegan however i needed to let that one go when i was over there. I only ate good healthy traditional balinese food. No meat, only rice, fruit, vegetables and a lot of fresh coconuts and papaya. The humidity was awesome as I managed to sweat a lot of toxins from my body through my skin. This was the most happiest and healthiest I had ever felt in my life. Of course I was in Bali and who wouldn't be happy when over there with those joyous people. I guess it proved to me that living in the present moment, being grateful and eating simple foods was a way that I could adopt. The things is, it can be a challenge in our modern western world. Hmmm....I guess it's time to go back. Have a lovely day.

Well, reading this forum has inspired me to do some of my own research on parasites and to buy an herbal anti-parasitic remedy from my local health food store today.

I found this forum by looking up bloating and ravenous hunger, because I'd recently started having the near constant feeling of bloat and more sudden escalation of pressure during individual episodes of abdominal bloating. What I'm used to, instead of feeling bloated and starving, is having a flat stomach in the morning and a gradual increase of bloating as the day proceeds. I've gained weight in the past few weeks because of acting on the feeling that I'm starving, but I'm starting to realize the hunger sensation has to do with the bloat somehow.

Thanks, to everyone who has posted. I too thought I was alone in the severe abdominal pain on an empty stomach thing. I first noticed it in high school, and my GP thought the pain was a psychological issue (of using illness as an expression of being "sick of school") and recommended talk therapy and criticized my mother for enabling my false health claims. Later, as it got worse and worse, he suggested my abdominal pain might correlate with eating dairy products or lactose, and that I should try an elimination diet. It helped to quit lactose (although I still would like to see that doctor flogged and beaten for that flippant misdiagnosis and another obnoxious one that followed).

So, I've been lactose free for over 20 years now and am super strict about it with myself. However, I continued to have episodes of abdominal pain and bloating, which I used to blame on "hidden lactose" that I must have unknowingly eaten. Also, for about 10 years, I eliminated from my diet all beans and any processed food involving beans (i.e. tofu, soymilk, tempeh). This seemed to help, but did not solve the problem of empty stomach abdominal pain and bloating either. Right now, I'm back to eating beans and soymilk, but carefully. And I have an obvious reaction to wheat gluten, so I take some care in eating it.

The exercises that did help were jogging and deep abdominal/core exercises. And a two-fold process involving fiber and digestive stimulants. Fiber meaning big bowls of cooked vegetables (al dente tossed with a little sauteed garlic and olive oil). Digestive stimulants were 3 shots of espresso and at least one cigarette on an empty stomach every morning. Ingesting the smoke and coffee in the morning had a laxative effect, and mightily stalled both bloating and ravenous hunger for a few hours. The fiber provided bulk for stools to push everything through that was unwanted, i.e. gas, fermenting foods that were not digesting. And one emergency rescue standby for me, that I believed coated the mucosal lining of my intestines and soothed it, was cooked zucchini with a little salt and tiny bit of olive oil. (Witness for yourself the slippery, "liquid bandaid" type plasma that beads up on the white flesh of a piece of sliced zucchini.)

One of the problems with evacuating one's bowels with espresso and cigarettes is that it is sudden, without regard to whether you've absorbed all the nutrients out of your food yet. And conventional wisdom says flushing one's system laxative style ushers out too many microorganisms without replenishing them, and leaves an environment where certain microorganisms can repopulate your digestive tract faster and create an imbalance.

What I believe also resulted from flushing my digestive system every day was shifting the problem you guys describe above downward out of my stomach and into my intestines. Because when I was a smoker and coffee drinker, if I did not eat in time or in a large enough quantity, I would suffer debilitating episodes of lower abdominal pain in the gut, on my left side and near my pubic bone (descending colon and duodenum). A lot of times there was nothing in the gut to expel, just gastric juices or something that burned like acid. I remember thinking this burned because there was inflammation of my intestinal lining, i.e. microscopic tears in the lining. And since I didn't have the mucous lining people get from eating dairy products, I was unprotected and my intestines might even be less elastic in their ability to expand and contract, or even be empty and have one side of the lining touching the other side, because of the inflammation from lactose or whatever. Now that I'm a nonsmoker and don't use caffeine, the problem takes place in my stomach as you describe. [And believe me, I ain't complainin' cuz the lower gut pain was TRULY debilitating. I'd be down for the count and no force of will could overcome that health problem.]

So, based on the wonderful picture that our mosaic of testimonials in this forum is providing, I'm interested to see the result of the herbal anti-parasitic I bought, which claims on its packaging to be an "Advanced Microorganism Detoxification Program" that "Promotes Balance of Intestinal Microbes." There are plenty of products to choose from, but what I picked out today is called ParaGone. The 'program' requires using it half strength for 3 days, then full strength for 12 days, then not taking it for 5 days, then half strength for 3 days again, then full strength for 12 days. Today I took my first dose, which is 1 capsule that has dry herbs in it and 7 drops of a tincture. Doses are supposed to be 3 times a day on an empty stomach. The tincture tastes like clove - not a bad aftertaste at all.

I'll keep you guys posted on how it goes. Thanks again for writing!

I have the same problem, I find it quite life limiting. I can't hang out with friends too long, I can't enjoy things the way I used to. Slowly but surely I'm losing my mind. My patience thins everyday and the ones I love I can't stand. This has gone on for 3 years now. I've seen countless doctors and have done countless tests. At this point, I give in to it. I just take the pain until it's too much. I smoke weed regurlarly and before this stomach problem I barely did. I tried stopping smoking but it never changes. I think now it's 70% mental issue, 30% actual physical. I believe at one point that it was completely physical. But because this problem has traumatized my mind, I don't believe I'll spend 5 minutes without thinking about this. Sad to say, but I think that we all have to live with this for the rest of our lives, or a very long time.

I would tend to agree with 'puss' from UK that the bloating is related to diet, (and not eating/starving causes some bloating too maybe like the post about bacteria and hunger suggests). I do eat a lot of wheat products (hel im eating wheaties right now), so great tip thanks. My symptoms are just like Monica. I am going to do what puss suggested and just try a totally different diet starting with just fruits and vegetables for a few days and see how that goes.

Wow. this is shocking i am 18 and have spent my whole life with this problem, any one else ever mention this to your friends or family and get the "that doesn't happen to me response"? I ignore most of the hunger pains, so therefore i am in constant pain all the time, Some days it is so bad it keeps me from even going out or doing anything. When i try eating healthy i feel that i do not get full and my stomach does not fill up on the food, therefore i find myself eating two large portions of food everyday, in order to cure the pains even for a short period of time, however they always find their way back when i do not pay attention to them later on. Its beyond frustrating, weird, and confusing to me! thank you to all who posted on here this was really helpful and reassuring to know that I am not the only person with his problem, we are all in this together haha.

I get this exact same problem but often not much pain. I always seem to be hungry but I can eat to the point of feeling pain and still have the hunger feeling; so it's obviously NOT hunger. My stomach looks as though I"m pregnant and it's often hard to the touch, not like fat at all, but I have put on weight. It's depressing but somehow so comforting to find others with similar problems.
