THANK YOU! Several of my friends have suggested Gluten as the culprit, but no one is familiar with the distended belly, not the stomach; I actually have 2 sizes of bloat - 3 mo pregnancy and 6 mo - laughable to those unfamiliar with this malady, but so frustrating to determine the cause. For years, I've taken major pharmaceutical grade probiotics, twice daily, and digestive enzymes 2-3 x daily (got my 82 yr old Dad on them!) I can't quite imagine how bad this could be if I didn't. I'm definitely trying this
If any of you smoke marijuana look up Hyper Emesis Syndrome........
lieing down on stomach after meal or before.???
Happens to me and I have endometriosis which could also explain your fertility proba too!
Happens to me if I don't eat every 2 hours.. It's really annoying cuz it ruins my day. It is almost like i'm being punished for not eating more than 4 times a day.
I have these same symptoms. They were associated with gallbladder disease until I had it removed. After my gallbladder was removed I developed an ulcer do to taking pain medications without eating because eating was virtually impossible without suffering immense pain while waiting a year to have my gallbladder removed. Now its the opposite. If I don't eat on time my ulcer becomes inflamed and my stomach swells and becomes excruciatingly painful. This also occurs if I take any nsaid(alleve, or ibuprophen) without at least a slice of bread to prevent aggravation to my ulcer. So if you have a gallbladder still, you might wanna get it checked, if you don't have one you should be checked for a peptic ulcer.
Same!!!! The only thing that helps me is to lie down flat on my stomach. This seems to encourage the gas to pass one way or another. It is very painful and totally inconvenient. I can't just lie down every time this happens - usually multiple times per day. GI doc says it doesn't make any sense and dismisses it. I have also had multiple tests which were all negative. Any help would be greatly appreciated!
I have had this stomach problem since I was about 16 or 17 (33 now) and I had problems with ulcers too. Perhaps they are related. Maybe it's the acid causing this. The one thing Ive noticed that helps is avoice spicy or even salty (soy sauce, wasabi etc) and of course an empty stomach as well, also the acid from hunger is what causes this bloated pain; 1 great relieve I have found is taking peppermint beads (i swallow 2) it forces the gas out via burping, sometimes in other ways but it helps prevent the deadly pain. I take it as soon as I feel it coming on. I bought them on Amazon by Doterra, i never leave the house without them. It's worth a try!
Please get tested for celiac disease. I posted here years ago and was diagnosed last December. My distended stomach has disappeared (I also had to eliminate dairy).
Hi, I've been tested for everything, including celiac. Everything came out negative. Doctors have never found out what was wrong with me. I've tried Dairy free diet for several years and also gluten-free. It didn't help my stomach. : / Thank you for your reply!
Hi there,
It might be IBS (Irritable Bowel Syndrome)... I suffer with this and have the same symptoms- only thing is I get constipated as well when this happens- and it all causes gas in my stomach- HECTIC pains- which lead to Nausea and Vomiting. Mine just started off with gas but now turned into a chronic issue because it was left untreated and buggering me up on the inside... Just imagine all the strain your body takes.
My Doc prescribed me Librax- which works like a bomb- but I dont always take this as it's side effects include birth defects etc... and we planning to get pregnant... I also use Iberogast- and this seems to work.. it's herbal which is great but you have to take 20 drops 3 times daily, 15 minutes before meals... hope this helps... It works for gas, abdominal pain etc... and you can get it over the counter.

Okay guys, it took a very long time for me to discover what was causing my bloating and distended belly, a chronic issue, which had become a chronic condition. I quit the Linzess and started taking a natural supplement, DETOXY+ by Kimberley Snyder (order online 90 caps for $24.95) and secondly, reduced the size of meal portions and increased number of times eating daily. I am so very happy to report that this combination has ELIMINATED my belly bloat and distress. I still must eat in a timely manner or I could bloat, rarely does it happen now. I believe the Detoxy + is what is cleaning me out better than any chemical drug the doctors have tried. I never knew that this was most likely the culprit to my bloating and misery problems. It seems that I'm getting cleaned out and this natural supplement does not hurt my belly while it works. I AM SO SOLD ON THIS that I'm telling everyone I know. I lost weight too! It is so worth a try guys! I would love to hear from you if you try it and / or how it works for you. All the Best in Health, Donna O
Have any of you been tested for coeliac disease . I had most and more of these problems and once I was diagnosed and Nagano a gluten free diet my whole life changed for the better . Mildred
I have had the same issue, and it is very painful when it occurs.
The cure for me was a two week carb/sugar detox. After the two week period, I no longer experienced the symptoms. I was less hungry in general, and when I did get hungry the pain in my gut did not happen.

i just have to write as i have the EXACT same thing. I feel absolutely STARVING. And then i can lie on my stomach and press right below my xiphoid process and get mild relief. Then usually i pass gas and the "hunger pains go away" . I have notice that certain foods and Coffee exacerbate this condition. Has anyone found a solution to this condition? The hunger pains and growling is usually unbearable and the pain is lessened by pressing on my upper abdomen. The other options for immediately relief are kiefer or yogurt, avacados, pumpkin, squash, potatoes, Chia seeds and hot hot water.
