I had aortic valve replacement surgery 9 weeks ago and was very sick for the 4-6 weeks and spent a lot of time in bed. When I started walking around I noticed a lot of dizziness and vertigo. Had an MRI but no stroke--can be a complication of this surgery. Neurologist said dizziness is from being in bed so much. It screws up balance signals to and from the brain. Vertigo exercises (you can find them on the web) and time should take care of it.

I had surgery in December of 2012. I have never had surgery of any kind before. I had Gastric Bypass and my Gall Bladder removed. I have always been overweight, but never had any other symptoms. I now, 2 months later, have daily dizzy spells. I feel light headed all day long, but when I lie down or put my head back for any reason, the room starts to spin very fast. I have been to my primary and to my surgeon....they keep saying drink water, hydrate, get rest and it takes time. I drink between 70-80 ounces of liquid a day. I drink water, carrot juice (which has electrolytes), Real fruit juice-sugar free, and bouillon. I take my vitamins daily, exercise and check my blood pressure often. So what's the deal? I am freakin' out about this. I am out of work now for GI issues...How could I go back to work when I am afraid to drive, walk, or do anything without passing out? Please give me some advice.

I also had lightheaded and dizzy feeling today. I had my surgery 2-1-2013. I also have pain on right side by ribcage and in back on right side as well. My doctor told me these pains aren't associated with the surgery. WOW!!!! BUT FEELS LIKE A GALLBLADDER ATTACK WITH NO GALLBLADDER. I want to go to another doctor for a second opinion , I prefer out of network but insurance won't pay. The funny part is he released me to work on the 19th of the same month!!!!! I can't perform my job!!!!

6 days post op for LC and feeling dizzy, but strangely I am constipated rather then the other way. BP went low whilst i/p in hospital, but returned to normal before discharge.
I am dizzy when I stand up and it takes several minutes before I can dare to step off to walk. It has been like this since day one. I am also having a lot of pain and discomfort where the drain was removed and I have back pain on the right side.
I have had anaesthesia many times before for various things, but that was several years ago. Perhaps there is something in the modern anaesthesia that remains in the body and causes dizziness.
My procedure was described an complicated, with adhesions, but it was not converted to an open cholecystectomy. The surgeon said he could visualise well on the screen without having to perform an open. I was "under" for a long time apparently, so wondering if this has anything to do with the spells.
Speaking to my GP (UK here) tomorrow, so will try to get some answers then, Wont hold my breath though - I will probably pass out.

Hi, I had my gall bladder laproscopic removal on the 14th of March 2013. The first 3 days I was plaged with nausea which I discovered was normal reading these posts. I stopped taking the hydrocodone as I felt it contributed to the nausea and the pain wasn't that bad. Now on day 4 I am feeling better but have the lightheadedness and pain in my back. Don't know if this is still from anesthesia. I didn't have diarhea but do urinate more frequently and bowel movements are frequent, one little t**d at a time but come out easily so I don't think I am constipated. I eat very small meals, oatmeal for breakfast, applesauce for snack, yogurt a couple of hours later and I had a turkey sandwich for supper yesterday. I'm going to introduce chicken noodle soup today. I hope what I am experiencing helps others who visit here, everyone is different. Also I do get tired easily

Hi agsin, the above post is mine and so I am adding to it. Had no problems with the soup and for dinner I had a baked potato and a small piece of baked chicken. All was fine. Today I woke up feeling great, had my oatmeal, was still hungry so had 2 apple toaster streudals.. I took a shower midday and was still fine, then about 2:00 I got hit with this dizziness that lasted about 5 minutes. It left me feeling tired so I layed down for a half hour. After reading all these posts I guess it's normal. I don't know how long "normal" is supposed to last. I also get the sharp pain in the back under my left shoulder blade. I don't have answers, I see my doctor on Thursday so I;ll see what he says.

i had my gallbladder removed june 2013. I was having chest pain and heart palpatations. I always felt like i was going to pass out and just felt like i was dying or was going to. I went to my cardiologist and he put me on fludrocortisone. It took me a few days but i feel so much better. I no what what you are going through. He says we loose all our minerals and our bodys dont have enough fluid to balance. If u dont go to your DR soon it will get worse. Drink lots of gaterade also. I hope this helps you and everyone else.
