i have had a lump in my neck for a few months now and over the last week i have been experiencing pain where the lump is , i have difficulty swallowing and it feels like i have something stuck in my throat and like my throat is closing over , im really worried it may be some kind of cancer? i am a smoker,

The lumps in the neck can be problematic some times. In most cases the lumps are just enlarged lymph nodes that are reacting to some sort of an infection in your body. The interesting thing is however the fact that you have this lump for two months now. This is a long period for lymph nodes to stay swollen. You might consider also that this might be a fatty tissue as well. These things can also happen and they stay for long period of time. If you think that ths is a cancer you will have to see your doctor and do the biopsy. I hope this helped a bit.
