Do I need surgery for fissure.

i had an anal fissure 5 weeks back. it is still there and i am using Glyceral trinitrate cream for it. There is no pain but there is some discharge, mucus or yellow and a painless but uncomfortable nodule nehind where the fissure was. there is no pain when passing stools or sitting. but doctor saying we have to do surgery pl tell me do i need surgery? pl. reply.
