The conclusion is: Yes. Multiple studies have proven to make people lose weight fast and is even used in some hospitals for obese or overweight people. I know that people may there friends drop there size and weight drastically and the most affective way to do so is by obviously smoking the weed (not saying anyone should its just how it is done) to raise the metabolism which yes it does raise it which we all know burns fat cells faster. After your metabolism is raised like you said you may start feeling very hungry (The Munchies). A way to lose the most amount of weight possible is to fight the craving and not eat like a crazy person, but if you do feel like you really need to eat apples and other kinds of fruits (other than bananas) help so much with keeping your metabolism high and not having to many carbs. Yes weed does make you loose weight, specially people like me who smoke weed daily multiple times a day. it makes you loose weight because once u withdraw from it you loose your appetite completely and anything you eat makes you feel like gagging or throwing up, I personally cant go more than 3 days without smoking weed, when i do however i cant eat anything until about the 5-6 day when pot is out of my system more or less. This happens because your brain has receptors in it for most chemical reactions including THC, the reactors for THC are called something like Cronoreceptors or something like that and basically there are some located in the part of your brain(including other parts of your brain) which controls your appetite, people who smoke weed it activates your appetite even if your not hungry which, by doing so your really messing up your appetite. Personally i can only eat ice, drink really cold things and coffee when im withdrawing from pot, just about anything else will make me wana throw up or gag, specially things with a distinct taste or consistency. I know this is mostly true because all of my friends who smoke everyday are just like this. They can only eat when they are high or have smoked weed recently.

When it comes to weed there isn't much scientific evidence of anything...which is why I am still baffled at why its not legal. All you will find on the internet is theories, opinions and scientific studies that have came back inconclusive. I have been a pothead for about 15 years and I am obese. For this reason I believe that it does depend on the individual. Weed effects everyone differently, and not just when it comes to weight. Side effects are also different for everyone which to me further proves that once again it effects everyone differently. For me I would say that since I am overweight, it does not help Me lose weight because when I smoke I get the serious munchies and want to eat everything which equals to more calories. But maybe if you are a person who loses their appetite when they smoke you will lose some weight.
My opinion is to not ask everyone because everyone is going to answer this question based on their experience, someone elses, or some inconclusive scientific study. The best thing to do is to pay attention to how weed effects you as an individual. If you get serious munchies and start wanting to eat after smoking pot the it probably isn't going to help you lose any weight.

Weed does not effect your weight. Unless you often munch. Ask your friends if they smoke scoots (tabacco and weed mixed) or just pures (just weed). Because scoots are known to make you really skinny. Advid smokers tend to take more scoots, because scoots get you on a better high, and alot of potential stoners will go in that direction. Thats why someone who has been smoking for a long time have a better chance of being very skinny opposed to someone who just started smoking weed. This is just an observation i have seen over the course of a few years. I am also an advid smoker, and the tabacco is unhealthy, so i wouldn't recomend it.
So in conclusion weed does not make you lose weight, but when you add tobacco which alot of teenagers will, thats when you start losing an unhealthy amount of weight.

Pot is commonly viewed as a gateway drug. If you find your friends are able to lose "or loose" weight while smoking, you might also want to consider the kind of candy they are consuming while high. While typical candy, lets say snickers, will infact cause you to gain weight, other kinds of candy, lets say, nose candy can contribute to excellent weight loss.

Before i smoked weed i was over weight now ive been smoking weed for 2 years and have lost alot of weight. I However have realized on the disgusting side of weed that me and my mates when we smoke bud n get munchies afterwards your sh*t is massive lol i think weed flushes out your digestive system.

This is a super old post but...I've actually lost weight as well after stopping for so long and starting back. I think what it is, is that when you smoke marijuana it boosts your heart rate, the higher the heart rate the more calories your body burns so this could actually kinda counter balance the terrible food choices if burning such a significant amount of calories.
