I started smoking weed one year ago and have lost about 15lbs and keep slowly dropping weight without any effort. I smoke about once almost every day but with a few scattered months smoking only a handful of times because I'm traveling. 15lbs in one year doesn't sound like a lot but I'm 25 years old, 5'3, I now weigh 118lbs, and the difference is very noticeable. My normal weight is 134. There's no scientifically proven reason for this that I've found online but after reading some studies, I have a theory. 

I have been focused on living a healthier lifestyle for the last 8 years and had been maintaining my weight because of it but the only thing holding me back from actually losing weight was my cravings to eat all the time. I was always thinking about food, what I was going to eat, when I was going to get to eat, what I wished I could eat [not necessarily unhealthy food like fast food but food from restaurants].

After I started smoking, and this was a very quick change, something switched in my mind. I stopped craving food all the time. I think it's because I experienced "munchies" which is a chemical reaction/side-effect from the drug. I was able to realize subconciously that food cravings are a psychological thing. Somehow, my mind doesn't even regard the food-cravings on a daily-basis. I have to feel my stomach growl to know my body wants food. I do get food cravings maybe once every other day so I just try to stay on top of it and make sure that I eat. If it's accessible, I smoke when I'm not hungry so I can enjoy my meal. Also, I'm female so my hormones are constantly changing with my cycle and yes, I'll go a few days where I eat more because of it, but I'm still losing weight overall. My boyfriend thinks the switch might be from the reason THC makes you high: because your brain is forced to process things in a different way.

The only bad thing is that I'm a little less healthy about my eating habits. I do still eat breakfast every morning and stay away from sodas and fast-food, but I will allow myself to eat very late and often right before I sleep. I got blood work done a few days ago saying that I am very healthy and extremely far from being diabetic even though I have family who is. I think that those friends of yours who are losing weight are NOT losing it in a healthy way. Even if you're skinny, you can be very unhealthy and I can't imagine that being on the Stoner Diet but eating horribly unhealthy food would give you a positive blood test. 

Also, there are stoners who gain weight but I theorize that those people are smoking a lot more often than I am and getting the munchies all day OR they fought the switch in their minds that invalidated daytime food-cravings because they liked food too much/used food as an emotional crutch/weren't focused already on living a healthier lifestyle.

From my own experience I'd say it has help me to lose weight and also gain a lot. I remember losing nearly 7 kgs when I started smoking everyday. At that time I was already on diet and walking (not regular). Last month again I started smoking and ate lot of junk and fatty food.. I gain nearly 8 kgs because most of the time I was not active. I'm able to control munchies now and im again on diet since last two weeks and ive lose 4 kgs again. If you really want to lose weight, do a proper diet and exercise 3 to 5 times a week that would really help you to lose weight. And of course feel free smoke but don't pig out !

its not always about facts and what scientist have proved, why would you listen to sombody who have never even tried weed? Open your eyes and look around you. smoking weed will eventually make you lose weight, im not sure if its becaouse of your eating habbits or what.

Marijuana smokers are proven to have smaller waist & better cholesterol. If you eat before you get stoned then when you're high and you're craving something but remind yourself you just ate your metabolism will kick in and burn the fats and carbs already in your stomach faster. There have been many surveys concluded..  I smoke weed everyday. If you wanna lose weight and you're a stoner like myself, limit yourself to 3 puffs per session and train yourself to never eat high. Boom

You obviously don't know what you are talking about, it is proven that pot increases your metabolisim and heart rate. It also plays a role on your eating habits, your body becomes dependent on it so when youre not smoking youre not eating, you will lose your hunger if you don't smoke which will reduce your calories.

Theres no proof of it not boosting metabolism. The thing is its not legal therefor they dont want people smoking it. So if people know its a metabolism booster alot more will smoke! I know a bunch of fat people who got skinny and when i ask most of them how they did, they say weed. So dont tell me that it makes you gain weight cause thats BS!!

You may gain or lose depending on who the person is . So I'm saying yes and no . I smoke weed every single day probably five or more blunts a day . & I hardly ever hungry unless I'm high . So therefore you really do need to balance out your eating or you will not eat at all .
