I think that dude copy and pasted that from another site. I just read that exact thing he wrote this afternoon. Are you saying that fat does not become water soluble and thereby cannot be sweated out? I was also reading that they did a study in Germany that marathon runners don't have a high occurrence of cancer cuz they sweat a lot and the carcinogenic toxins get sweated out.

Yeah wearing bags is only good if you want to lose it quickly such as wrestling.. when i did wrestling thats what we had to do when we slept to lose quick weight.. you'll gain it all back when you drink a glass of water..

same with spitting.. if you spit enough, you'll lose weight but not for long.. it also causes serious dehydration..

Just have your friend walk.. thats one of the best ways possible to start loosing weight.. walk around town, walk when your on the phone.. she could even burn calories just by cleaning a room in the house..

Everyone who thinks SWEATING is the key to loosing weight is wrong, I am 23 years old, I have a condition where I SWEAT 24/7 NO MATTER WHAT I AM DOING, I can be sitting in a bathtub or shower in cool water and still SWEAT. I weigh 110 lbs and have been at 110 since i was around 15, if sweating ment weight loss then how am I still alive because with the way i sweat all day everyday I wouldnt weigh anything at all. So NO sweat does not mean weight loss. Sorry, But chances are if you are actually exerting yourself to atempt to loos weight and you are sweating then you are doing what you should to loss weight, but the sweat its self isnt fat burning sweat!!

I don't know, if exerting energy is the catalyst of fat loss, exerting energy also creates heat, therefore creating heat results in fat loss. The sauna has to help, but the key to shedding weight is to take a laxative because you have to c**p it out; seriously. Cocaine works great, numbs your bowels, strips your body, and you poop EVERYTHING out! Then you can just workout to keep it off. Honest to God! Every model I know uses this method. Stay away from any other drugs though, unless you want to look heroin sheik. XD

Actually the byproduct of fat is water.....so yes, if you have water accumuleted in your cells.....and you are bloated, the sauna suit will help.

If your sweating then yeah you are losing weight but not fat. Like most people said it's a way of cooling down and sweating in of itself is just losing water weight. You need to run, lift, diet if you want to lose fat. That being said if you are sweating while exercising, that means you're pushing yourself which is what you need.

sweating that starts in puberty can help you loose weight because the type of sweat that stinks contains some fat which is why if you sweat exessively in the armpits you sometimes notice faint white stains where the sweat was which is fat

This is an interesting thread. Currently I am living in Tokyo where they have these old sentos (bath houses) where there are usually 3 hot (40-42 C) baths and a cool off (20 C) bath. The sento I go to has digital scales and I have noticed the curious thing, that in about 20 minutes (I am ~60 kgs) you dump 0.5 KG and I am pretty certain it is not from sweat (it would be ½ a litre!). I don't have a biological/medical background but usually you can tell if you have sweated a lot/dehydrated because of course you get thirsty and your urine changes colour. You need to replace the fluid. But after a sento none of this happens so I am lead to think it is some other kind of energy transformation happening.
Some people on this thread appear to have a medical background and I would be interested in their comments.

That's a good point, but let me put in a more simple manner,

Sweating whilst running is a one way cause and effect relationship, when u run the increased effort, the burning of "fuel" leads to a higher temperature that leads to sweat, but in doesn't go the other way.

Running is a good exercise for burning fat because it is a continuous effort that uses large muscle groups in a way that your intramuscular energy is burned without wearing out the muscles, so the muscles can go on if they get more energy, after the intramuscular energy reserves are depleted that comes from fat. So the more you run, the more you burn, now here is WHY I don't recommend using a nailon suit: your body has certain mechanisms, one of them is the psychological feeling of tiredness to prevent overheating when the body temperature raises too much, the nailon suit does just that, raises body temperature which makes u feel completely and utterly exhausted which means you won't be able to run as much which means you simply won't burn as much fat as you would without that costume.

No, it causes you to lose weight through losing water, which affects your performance. If you are well hydrated you can keep going for longer, thus raise your metabolism for longer and build more muscle which burns more calories in the longer run.

So in the short term sweating lots will lose you weight but in the longer term you'll burn more calories if you are comfortable and hydrated and thus perform better/for longer.

It takes energy to sweat - it is not a passive process - water does not just fall out of your sweat glands. It takes energy for the body to maintain its temperature - this is why dead people are generally cold! If the body loses heat (and thus energy) through sweating (plastic suit or not) it will require energy to regenerate that heat (burning fat/food)!

these arent misconceptions. it takes too much heat to burn bodyfat, one thing people who are sick and feverish have in common and excersizing is that they both profusely sweat. sweating can be healthy and dangerous. it is a myth that high fever is caused by anyything other than a high heartrate. for any doctors who want to dispell, try actualy taking your patients pulse that has a fever.

a low fever will have a dangerously fast criticaly high heartrate and a high fever will have a dangerously low erratic heartrate. fever in people who are sick, contrary to popular medical myth is caused by viral toxins registering as an increase of blood supply wich causes the heart to pump faster and harder, the same thing can be done by pouring more and more water into a balloon, the balloon becomes harder to squeeze. when people sweat too much, this acts just like blood loss.i believe heart/cardiac failure occurs in viral patients because of rapid increases and decreases in the blood supply. advanced sweating would result in enough blood loss to register the same as a gunshot wound or other puncture fatality. if any of you dont believe this, boil some blood. both blood and water will evaporate if you boil it long enough, the smaller the amount of blood/water the lower. also boiling water does not produce vapors, i believe why you are seeing bubbles when you boil is your seeing water turn into oxygen (oxgyen comes from heating both fresh and salt water in my opinion). proven by boiling water in a vacumme.

liquids evaporate (become gaseous) at lower temperatures than solids do. what your seeing when you sweat is blood heating up and becoming gaseous, the oxygen/water content in the blood itself is the first to evaporate (body is composed of largely water, the blood supply is where this would be found as its primarily liquid), this opens poors in your skin allowing gas to escape wich condenses back into water. the same effect can be seen by boiling water at 98 degrees or higher until steam is produced from a tea kettle and putting a glass cup up to it, you will see the steam condenses back into water when touching the cup (better if the cup is cold/refrigerated).

this is why sweating is a bad sign in patients as its a sign of advanced dehydration and needs to be taken seriously, regardless if its excersize or fever induced. take a Flipping heartpulse someone please. einstein once said stupidity is doing the same thing and expecting a different result, I say stupidity is thinking like everyone else and expecting a different result.

when you excersize you induce fever wich causes sweating. largely sweating is how you loose weight, however if you loose too much water this has the same dangerous effects as blood loss wich can cause cardiac imparement, because the water is being evaporated out of the blood supply when you see sweat. this is why you dont want to sweat too much when excersizing and watch your heartrate and drink water to avoid dehydration.

also if you know someone has a fever, make sure they dont fall asleep during it, the reason is if the fever reaches critical stages you wont be able to know if thier asleep or unconcious as they will become unconscious if fever becomes critical. have them rest after, make sure thier alert and watch thier condition and have them drink water, eat something that doesnt elevate thier heartrate.make sure you keep them awake and check that thier alert, not slurring thier speach.

a fast heartrate causes fever peroid wich induces sweating wich registers as blood loss and can be fatal in both excersize and viral outbreak. will one of you doctors try taking a damned pulse of your fever patient?

I think that sweating does indeed help you reduce weight. It takes a lot of energy for the body to burn up fat, thats why you work out. So you can sweat and burn fat. I think that you can sweat by just being more active and increasing your drinking water intake. And if you are bored of drinking the same old tasteless water... just try something new like flavoured water...I makes drinking water in such large quantities so much easier...my favourite is orange and passion fruit flavor :p slightly eccentric but its amazing.. ooooh you can check out this link for more flavors

They do that to shed water weight so they can make weight for a certain division.
