Hi..how did your dui case go...i am also thinking 5his could effect my case ?
How did yours go? I just had mine removed too and am in the same boat.
I don’t have spleen since 2006 and I’ve never needed antibiotics nor have I been usually sick. It’s inter to me to come across this thread and find out this is peoples experience
hey i was wondering i had my spleen removed 9 days ago still in recovery would it be a problem if i drank wine or beer?
Hi, i have the same thing happening too, one minute I am fine, then next minute i have passed out and with no warning. Like you say its like a switch flips
I had my my spleen removed in 2014, before that I was drinking quite heavily (the higher end of average for a 24 year old bartender) and could handle my booze. Ever since I can drink, drink, drink... BOOM! Gone... no memory and feel c**p for days after! I’m so glad other people are saying they’ve experienced similar, I mentioned it to my doctor and she just dismissed it saying it must be my age. If nothing else it’s seriously curbed my drinking!
Why are you drinking and driving?
What are the long term effects of drinking a lot of alcohol when you are without a spleen for 11 years?
Hi, Im trying to do the same exact thing and wondering if you found any information on how not having a spleen would affect blood alcohol level or anything? I don’t drink often and was fully capable of driving, walking, etc, not intoxicated, but because of an emergency surgery on my spine cuz of compression, I have issues documented from surgeon stating that Im unable to perform a sobriety test if having to keep balance, walk straight line, fine motor skills with arms, and hands, and is why he arrested me. Now, im trying to figure out if not having a spleen wound affect anything? I appreciate your time. Thank you
I had my spleen taken out in early 2000, and I drank alot and could handle my liquor very well. Ever since I got my spleen taken out I have not been able to handle my liquor the same way as before. Every year I got worse and worse at being able to handle my drinking. Now it's 2022 and I black out I have no memory what I've done or said or anything. So Im officially giving it up. I have to face it that without my spleen I cannot drink alcohol at all. I've been a drinker my whole life. Your limit is maybe one glass of alcohol anything more will make you drunk and won't remember at all. It will hit you all at once and you will black out every time. Let me put it this way I had drank the night before. I woke up felt good and sober I had to breathalyzer for a job I had. Well when I blew it came out as if I had drank on the way to my job it came out at .16 but yet I hadn't drank for 10 hrs.so if you don't have a spleen once you feel a little buzz stop drinking because anything after that will make you black out. And yes not having a spleen does affect your alcohol intake. And you will feel sick for a while the next day. But unfortunately I'm to the point I have to quit. Because now even a sip makes me drinker than a skunk. As my years went by my body's ability to handle alcohol is no more. So with two DUI on my plate and all my blackouts it's over for me my friends. My advice to anyone without a spleen is don't drink alcoholic beverages at all. Without a spleen it's just no good and the more you drink over the years your body will stop being able to break it down and your tolerance for it will be none at all. Like mine I now cannot drink a sip at all I'm only 37 yrs old.good luck to y'all and stay sober if you can. It's hard but try.
