Hey, I am 161cm, 88.2kg and i just turned 19 and I'm on my second week of 30 mg duromine + 1 week of fat burner. As of now, i lost a total of 5.9kg and now i weigh 82.3kg. My asian BMI healthy weight is 55-60kg :(

A little bit about me:

I was underweight and sickly when I'm young then just before i reach puberty, i gain a lot of weight. I'm a picky eater and i don't like veggies. Sometimes i can lose weight drastically unknowingly even without any pills or exercise and same goes for gaining it back. But this is my heaviest weight so far and its worrying me cos my period is taking longer than normal although i never had regular cycles anyway (usually about 3 months apart). So i went to the doctor I guess the fat burner is to make sure that my weight isnt getting in the way of my cycle and its been 95 days since i had my last period.

The doctor forbid me from exercising (and this is not the first time i was told so; i went to a slimming center before and they told me i should not do any exercises cos it will affect the regularity of losing weight) due to reasons that i might be exerting too much pressure on my knees thanks to my fats! The doctor say i'll probably need the duromine for just 2 months but for now he let me have it for a month first and  i truly hope i don't get the fat burner anymore after this and that if i don't get my period by then, he's gonna send me for an ultrasound check :(

My Experience:

The first week with just duromine, i lost 3 kg (sometimes i tend to gain 0.2kg back and i weigh everyday to make sure i dont loose too drastically). On the second week when i began taking the fat burner once per day along with duromine, i never gained back whatever i lost on the previous day which is good! WARNING: Fat burner gives you terrible diarrhea but after awhile i can control it and from tomorrow onward i will be taking the fat burner twice a day along with duromine so i guess i will be expecting more diarrhea time!

Whatever side effects you may have i guess it kinds of depends on each individual's immunity so don't be afraid just ask your doctor! I did not suffer any hunger pangs, headaches or dizziness, insomnia, moodswngs or suicidal thoughts. I eat half of the amount i usually eat. And i usually eat just once a day, sometimes just egg and bread or instant noodles cos i dunno how to cook and i stopped my mum from cooking cos she always cooks too much so i have an empty kitchen, ta-dah! I don't drink alcohol, fizzy, sweet or sour drinks so i just gulped down on plain water.

Hope this helps!

this was my post above. Just to let all know that my weight pre duromine was 75 kg, my goal was 64, so a loss of 11 kg. It is now one month and I just finished my script. I weighed myself today and am 65.5kg whoooooppppppeeeeee! thats 9.5kg in a month. I need to add though that duromine alone was not reponsible. It did make me far quicker with everything though and so I had a lot more physcial acitvity. I also went down to only 3000 kilojoules a day - half the recommended. I also started taking a xenical at every meal - regardless of how little fat was in it. Xenical absorbs the fat from your food. If you do eat fat it basically runs straight out as oil ---- yuck! The idea of xenical is that you learn very quickly what foods a fat friendly and which to avoid, so its a great start to a healthy eating pattern. You get used to eating low fat foods and foods low in kjs. Despite finishing duromine now, I am still steadily losing weight. When I get to the maintenance phase I will simply increase my kilojoules by double (as I was told 3000 is unstainable to hman life!!!! and so unhealthy) but I will retain my fat free diet that I am now used to. If you dont start good habits and label watching whilst on any weight losspills, you cant expect the weight to stay off when you stop.
So dont just take meds, although they work great, to lose the weight, but make the most of that time to learn a better eating pattern. if you dont you will just lump it all back on again! If I want a snack of a night now, I have a bowl of natural porridge with skim and sweetner, or a bowl of special K cereal, or some rice cakes with vegimite!!! Before I would have biscuits or toast or a muesli bar etc.... all chocka full of sugar. BEWARE TO THAT BOUGHT ORANGE JUICE HAS MORE SUGAR IN IT THAN CORDIAL!!!!!!!!

i'm 16 years old and have struggled my whole life with trying to lose weight, i started going to a dietitian at the age of 6, i was diagnosed with depression, anxiety and post traumatic stress disorder at the age of 13, to me my weight has always been huge issue as i've been severely bullied and due to that it has destroyed my confidence completely. i have tried and tried to lose weight i tried everything, from strict diets to starving myself nothing worked.(yes i do exercise alot, i dance 4-5times a week, walk to a from school everyday (10-15km) i do at least 10 minutes of skipping each day and yoga and abdominal work every 2-3rd day) When i was 14 i was diagnosed with PCOS my pediatrician then told me this was probably my cause as to why i was not losing the weight, after being diagnosed with PCOS i lost all hopes in losing weight. My dietitian told me that if i was to lose weight it would only be a small significant amount. After trying this for a year my weight just seemed to get higher and higher weighing at 87kg 5'3ft and at only 16yrs i was getting into some serious trouble with risk of heart failure, diabetes type 2 etc. My doctor decided to try me at 15mg of duromine i have noticed the side effects and i agree they are pretty hell to live with, however after being on it for a month i weighed at 80.2kg thats a total loss of almost 7kg! this has increased my confidence and given me hope that i can actually do it. so for the people that say duromine is a cheat and an easy way out, yes it does help with weightloss and yes it happens fast but you also need to think about the people like myself who have tried EVERYTHING they can to lose weight, the people that are at high risks of developing serious medical issues like diabetes and heart failure, it may be the 'easy' way out but for some its the ONLY way out. so to the people that say its a waste of time due to the side effects as it makes your life hell, i agree 100% i wake up with headaches and nausea everyday, my sleeping pattern is destroyed. However these are just short term affects in addiction to creating long term affects such as heart failure. i am proud of my weightloss as it is the first i have ever seen.

Hey there, My family have a history of autoimmune thyroid disease - Hashimoto disease to be specific. I got diagnosed at 16, and started treatment, though slowly continued to gain weight.. going back to the house doctor changed nothing - he even blamed my heavy exercising routine for my weight gain in fat! Some family went to an endocrinologist, where he diagnosed further issues with our underactive thyroid (hypothyroidism), and gave us the right medicine. For the first few months we also had to take duramime, but only got the dry mouth and sleeplessness... point is, dopamine might only be treating the cause of a very annoying illness. Symptoms of an iunderactive thyroid include the inability to lose weigh t through dieting and exercise, weightgain around stomach and hips, constantly tired, fatigue, depression, cold intolerance, dry and/or coarse hair, cold skin, slow heart rate, difficult to increase stamina in running, dry skin, increased cholesterol levels, swollen legs/feet, brittle nails, feeling weak, irregular menstruation...mas you can see, a , massive list, of which weight gain and inability to lose when thyroid is left untreated is the most common... when experiencing even one of these, domain thyroid test on T3, T4, reverse T3, TSH and the antibodies as well. This will not only help you solve your weight issue permanently, but possibly many other issues too.

I would really love to hear from the lady that does the spinning classes. It won't let me reply directly. I have been searching the web for over a week and you are the first person I have come across in a similar situation as me. I too have not had a weight problem until April 2012, I weighed 59 kilos then had a miscarriage. After the miscarriage, I gained 7 kilos in 7 weeks for no reason. I hadn't changed my diet or exercise. Ive been back and forth too from doctors, naturopaths and hormone drs . I have done 1200 calorie diets (lite n easy) I've done low carb high protein diets and only 1200 calories a day of purely protein. My body was not responding the way I knew my old body did. Each and every diet I tried I would lose a maximum of 1.5 kilos no matter if I was dieting for 2 weeks or 5. I have recently seen a weight loss dr and he has prescribed me with 30mg of Duramine. I am 159cm and currently weigh 66.5 kilos. The dr explained to me that because I gained weight ( and it can only take 2-3 kiLos) from my pregnancy that my metabolism has become inflamed ( I forget the official name for it) and the part deep in the brain that controls the metabolism was telling my metabolism that I am a healthy weight. Therefore like he said and like what happened in my case. It doesn't matter how disciplined I was I would NOT lose weight. I have been on the Duromine for 3 days now and have already lost 2 kilos. The dr said what we are doing with is Duromine is like hitting the reset button on my metabolism and then the part in my brain will recognise that I am at a real healthy and respond accordingly. Anyway I am really worried that I will put weight on again when I finish the Duromine and would love to know if you managed to keep the weight off ( guest user spinning class lady) or anyone else in a similar situation to me. I would really appreciate a response as I'm feeling very anxious.

I'm a 19 year old female, 170 tall and started taking Duromine when I was about to hit the 90kg mark! I piled on the weight when I started Uni as it was convenient and cheap tp eat a lot of take away food (McDonalds, KFC, Hungry Jacks etc.) I have always carried a bit of extra weight but nothing like this and it was effecting the way I felt and saw myself, to the extreme that I didn't make any friends at Ui even though I have always been very good at fitting in and making friends. I was feeling really low and down about my appearence and discussed this with my Mum who suggested I go on Duromine to help get me back on track.I started off on 30mg and lost 1okg in the first 7-10 days. I have since gone up to 40mg and now weigh 77kg. My aim is to get down to below 70kg. It's been about 6 weeks since I started on Duromine and I have completely turned my life around! I drink about 4L of water a day (due to the side effects of Duromine) which is amazing because i've always had a problem with drinking enough water. I have cpmpletely cut junk food out of my life and only eat two meals a day (breakfast and dinner) which consists of a lot of protien, fibre and basically just vegetables and fruit. I sometimes snack on a few almonds or an apple during the day but I have completely lost my appetite so sometimes find myself forcing myself to eat some dinner as I forget to! I also go to the gym for an hour-an hour and a half emost days. This started as a chore to lose weight but now I love it and it has become a habit. I feel so great when I'm at the gym and afterwards as well. Duromine has helped me get back on track and improved my quality of life incredibly. I feel so much more confident and happy within myself and I have made friends at Uni!!

I started Duromine 3 weeks ago.  I was on 15mg for 2 weeks and now 30mg.  The side effects I can put up with, even the itchy skin and sleepless nights just to lose some weight.  But how long does it take to start working??  I lost a kilo over the first 2 weeks and put a kilo back on this week!  I am eating about 800 calories a day, walk each day and go to the gym twice a week.  So frustrating.
