For the last year my sister, age 56, has been awakened in the early morning with debilitating nausea, fever and joint and muscle pain. The "episode" lasts 6-7 hours. Doctors have found nothing in blood work, CAT scan, MRI, etc. Twice she had a minor sinus infection but the "episodes" have also occured with no infection noted. The dr. put her on prednisone, which has not helped. Any suggestions? Thanks!
Depending on how early in the morning these episodes appear, I would guess that your sister has Restless Leg Syndrome. The symptoms can be just as severe as you have described. I know, because I have this disorder and have suffered the same symptoms. Mine responded with Requip. I am nearly the same age as your sister.
