Hello. My niece has been diagnosed with lupus. The most interesting thing to me is that her kidneys and joints are not affected. However, her lungs are suffering. I didn’t know that lupus can have the effects on the lungs. I would like to know if it is common. I would appreciate any other info.
Hi. You are quite right, my friend. Joints and kidneys are often involved. However, those are not the only localisation of lupus. Heart and lungs can be involved as well. The main symptom in this case is chest pain. Usually, linings of these organs are involved – pericardium and pleura. Beside pleura, other parts of the lungs are rarely involved in lupus. Sometimes fibrosis can happen in lungs. I hope this helps.
