My periods are now more painfull and the procedure left me in alot of pain for 6 wks. My sister suffered less with her hysterectomy.
Im now going back to the hospital to hopefully follow suit.
Many ppl are coming across the the ablation will stop periods all together, i was informed bu the hospital that this is a small percentage and that it usually only stops them all together when the patient is over 40.
My suggestion is to do ur own research on the procedure, if i had done so i would not have had it done.
You may have upto 6weeks of clear to slightly coloured discharge following.
I would try other route first, i regret mine. I would have it reveresed if it was possible.

Finally 10 months of bleeding EXTREMELY heavy (i was having to go to the bathroom every 15-30 mins; wearing tampons and pads) i found a different doct. that CARED, i was immediatly admitted into the hospital because my redblood count was 4. She said if i would have waited any longer, i could have died.
They tried a D&C and gave me 2 pints of blood. 2 months later, i started bleeding again.
I was given the option of Nova Sure or hysterectomy @ the age of 25.
She said Nova Sure would be the better choice because i was so young..
After the surgery, which I opted to be put out for, it felt like someone had punched me in the gut for about a week. Had some clearish discharge which was normal and expected.
Now, I have a normal life again! I only bleed every once in a blue moon, but not even enough to wear a tampon and after sex I will spot a little, but that is all.
Nova Sure definatly saved my life!

I am 36 years old and in per menopause, my periods went from 3 days long ever 26-28 days to being 7-9 days long with about 9 days in between and I was using a tampon and a pad for the flow.
My GYN did the ablation in November and told me that there would be mild discomfort, that night I was I was curled up in the fetal position I was in so much pain. With the pain killers and 800 mg of motrin my fever was at 102 for over 2 weeks. I did 2 antibiotics and finally feel somewhat human.
Now for the fun part…lol after all that I started a full blown period on Saturday and I am still going. L what makes me so mad is that I have Factor 5 Lieden ( blood clotting disorder) and a latex allergy so I cant do BC or condoms. So we have to be super careful not to get pregnant after the ablation. Why is the world did my GYN not try and a Hysterectomy approved????

I can not tell you the relief I have after reading the posts on this site as well as others. I had my ablation in July 2008. After years of suffering through hemmorhagic periods, I had to do something. I would bleed through a combination of LARGE tampons and LARGE pads - even out in public. Had I not known better, I would swear that I was having a miscarriage each month - sorry to be so graphic.
2 weeks ago I had my first Pap in over 4 years. I received a call earlier this week that my results were abnormal. My GYN scheduled a colposcopy and endometrial biopsy for 2/20/13. Since then I have ravenously been researching signs and symptoms of cervical, uterine, and ovarian cancer - which include abdominal cramps, bloating, and back pain. I too have been suffering, albeit silently, from excruciating cramps, bloating, and back pain that would radiate to my posterior and down my legs - my bloating began in 2009. The one sign I was missing was abnormal bleeding and/or vaginal discharge.
I came upon a website last night with a woman who had also had an EA, and because of this, her diagnosis of uterine cancer was delayed since her EA prohibited any sort of abnormal heavy vaginal bleeding or any other vaginal discharge. When she was finally diagnosed, her cancer was Stage III.
Well, after reading that, I was certain that I was in the same situation, as was my husband. He immediately called my GYN's office and left a message insisting that my procedure be moved up. They returned his call this morning and my testing has been rescheduled for Monday and he was told further that atypical grandular cells were found during my Pap - which were benign compared to other cells that could have been found - and are not that uncommon.
I then did a search on causes of menstrual cramps and discovered post endometrial ablation syndrome.
Due to my high pain tolerance and pride, I never shared my concerns with my husband until now. This discovery has been an absolute GODsend.
Just last night I was convinced that I would be given a terminal diagnosis. When I go to my appointment on Monday, I will definitely be bringing this condition to her attention.
