I am eighteen years old, am also a virgin, but occasionally get a raw egg white-like discharge. Due to diabetes-related illness, my weight has fluctuated, and my periods have been affected. From Feb-Aug 08, I had no periods, I gained weight slightly and had near-regular periods until the end of Dec. I have now had no cycle since, have remained 7st 2-4 (underweight), and have a daily playdough like white disharge, and sometimes the clear one. Is it possible the clear discharge is menstrual cycle related (as I have read) even though I haven't had a period? Any advice would be very much appriciated, as I am quite worried. Thanks in advance.
Thanks so much for posting this! I thought I was going mad. I knew I didn't have thrush or any infections but ths sudden increase in discharge in the 2 months since I've had the IUD had me worried. No smell, white to yellow, increases around ovulation, no irritation, itching, burning or swelling. Sadly, my doctor hadn't warned me this could happen. I hope it decreases soon, as it's making me self-conscious during sex. Will have to try to ride it out though, my contraceptive choices are limited. Fingers crossed for both of us!
Stringy cervical mucus is nothing more than fertile cervical mucus. You guys are panicking over nothing. Your docs are right. This is NORMAL!!!
Hello Ladies,
It seems excessive vaginal discharge is a bit of a mystery, but until we find the cause of it we are bound to worry, continue researching the subject and try to get answers from our doctors.
I am an ordinary mother of two children aged 3 & 20 months (but i feel being a mother is irrelevant to the issue). I am now 37 years old and I have experienced excessive odorless creamy coloured vaginal discharge for most of my life. It may have started when my menstruation began at age 13 years, but its been so long ago now that I can't actually remember when it started. What I do know though, is I have experienced propblems with my periods since I was 15. They were heavy, painful and unregular. Everytime I went to the doctor to find out what the problem was they always asked me about any discharge, but I never received any reactions from them about this. So they either: think its normal, related to something else or simply don't know. I have had problems with my hormones all my life and the reason why I have joined this discussion about excessive vaginal discharge is because I would like to contribute my latest experience in the hope that it may help us work out this puzzling problem.
More recently, I have been put on 2 drugs - Zoladex and Femara. Zoladex shuts down the ovaries to stop my body producing hormones. (Femara does the same to body fat). My point is, since I have been taking Zoladex (and Femara), which has been for 4 weeks now, my excessive vaginal discharge has gone. This tells me that the secretions is related to my hormones and / or my ovaries where hormones are produced. I should also add here that I have undergone some intense holistic therapies in the last year - change of diet from eating everything to non-dairy vegetarian, supplementation, reflexology and acupuncture - and the excessive vag dis did not change during this time. Taking the drugs has stopped it. The workings of Zoladex is to put my premenopausal body into a postmenopausal state.
I have no answers for you about excessive vaginal discharge, but since the change in my situation, I have been looking into this again. Because the secretions changed when I started the drugs I thought my body (or hormones) may have been out of balance for so many years. I thought it maybe due to an overactive pituitary gland (which is the body part in charge of hormones), but to my knowledge the symptoms of that don't include excessive vaginal discharge.
I hope my input to this discussion has got you thinking and if anyone can add any useful experiences or info then I would be most grateful to receive it.
Best wishes.

I'm sixteen and I have the same problem. Mine comes out so fast it's honestly just like peeing my pants.
I just realised I was actually allergic to my brand new and expensive Calvin Klein underwear!! I looked at the tag and it was mostly made of nylon...a man-made substance that is all chemicals! I switched to Jockey natural bamboo cotton (still look at the tags for any nylon) and it cleared up almost immediately!!
I Have the same problem. There is noway it can be normal. I am almost 20 & can remember having it since I was 14. I try to eat healthy & I have been to a few doctors regarding the discharge. They All tell me its "normal". I constantly feel dirty & embarrassed. I can only have sex after a shower. Can somebody please help!!! It controls my life!!!!!!!
I have been dealing with the same problem. Plus I used to get blister-type bumps that were quite painful and took about 2 weeks to heal. My doctor had no idea what was going on. I ended up visiting a naturopathic doctor who has helped more than any gynecologist or general practitioner. She prescribed a very strict diet, which includes ZERO sugar or even honey. Ahhhh! I didn't think I could even do it! But the truth is, when I don't eat any sugar, I have less or no symptoms at all. Whenever I splurge and eat even a tiny bit of sugar, my symptoms return within 6-12 hours. So I've decided that it's worth the sacrifice to avoid the embarrassment. The diet restricts the types of things that bacteria feed on, especially sugar but also things like yeast, nitrates (used in hot dogs and other foods), fungi (like mushrooms), and vinegar-based foods. My naturopathist also supplied me with something called Mycocan-Chord which is a homeopathic suspension. It helps to relieve symptoms and reduce sugar cravings. You just use a dropper of it in a glass of water twice a day and you can't taste it at all.
So I hope some of this has helped you. I've recently fallen off the wagon and have a reccurrance of symptoms. Finding this page and writing this note has encouraged me to start over again! There is hope, ladies!! You don't have to live like this any more!

Im 16, never had sex in my life, and Ive had the same problem all my life, even before I started my period. There's no smell, no itching, no burning, nothing but being sticky down there all the time. Another thing is... I dunno if this affects it, but I feel turned on all the time, so I don't know if I have hormone issues or what. I'm normal in everything, except that. Which I thought was normal, until my mom commented on it tonight. I'm going to the doctor for my physical tomorrow, so I guess I'll let you all know... But I'm pretty sure I have hormone problems for a lot of reasons.
I have had a mucousy discharge since January 2010. It started very soon after I went off birth control.
I have since gone back on the birth control which I find reduces the discharge a little. It seems to get heaviest right before my period and the week following I can almost get away with out using a pad at all.
I saw my family doctor for STD tests and a PAP, everything came back normal. So he referred me to my gynecologist.
The Gyn I saw was filling in for my regular one, and she described it as this:
There are cervical cells that are exposed, they are actually supposed to be sealed up, and they get irritated. The discharge is pretty much the same thing you get from your nose when you have hay fever.
Pretty description, huh?
Anyhow, she called it Ectopic or Ectropic.
I was scheduled for Cryotherapy so that they could freeze the trouble cells off. It is the same type of treatment they use for Cervical cancer and cervical displacia.
Unfortunately the day before my appointment I got a call that it was cancelled, apparently they don't offer Cryotherapy in my Province anymore.
I saw my usual Gyn today, she has scheduled me for Loop Electrosurgical Excision Procedure (LEEP) next month.
She also put a silver nitrogen product on the cervix today, said there is a small chance that will clear up the issue and I may be able to cancel the procedure. My fingers are crossed.
I was told that there is no guarantee that the procedure will correct the issue as the ectropia is rather slight. It may just be a physiological thing that I will have to learn to live with.

here is a post from yahoo answers:
Different Types of Discharge
White: Thick, white discharge is common at the beginning and end of your cycle. Normal white discharge is not accompanied by itching. If itching is present, thick white discharge can indicate a yeast infection.
Clear and stretchy: This is "fertile" mucous and means you are ovulating.
Clear and watery: This occurs at different times of your cycle and can be particularly heavy after exercising.
Yellow or Green: May indicate an infection, especially if thick or clumpy like cottage cheese or has a foul odor.
Brown: May happen right after periods, and is just "cleaning out" your vagina. Old blood looks brown.
Spotting Blood/Brown Discharge: This may occur when you are ovulating/mid-cycle. Sometimes early in pregnancy you may have spotting or a brownish discharge at the time your period would normally come. If you have spotting at the time of your normal period rather than your usual amount of flow, and you have had sex without using birth control, you should check a pregnancy test.

I TOTALLY identify myself with you! It's very disappointing when you go to the doctor's office and all they say is: It's normal! Sooo not true! This can't be normal!! I also have the excessive yellowish-green discharge, and it's very pasty. No bad odor but it has a particular odor to it! Not a bad one. Every time I pass urine some comes out, but the worst part is that after I have finished cleaning myself and put my undies back on, I start walking and I feel as if a faucet opened up and I feel the excessive discharge coming down! It's VERY ANNOYING! Not to mention, your underwear is never clean and you feel dirty!
Lately, (I'm 34) I've had a numerous cases of yeast infections as well as bacterial vaginosis (the one with the fishy odor-gross!!!).
Every time one ends, the other one starts...before or after my period! Very annoying! I truly wish they can find out what is the cause of all these problems. This is NOT NORMAL as doctors say! :x

Try taking probiotics. I got the idea from the Rephresh commercials that said they balance vaginal health (or whatever they say). Rephresh is $30 for a box of 30 tablets. I compared regular probiotic supplements (that do not propose to support vaginal health) and found that they have the exact same ingredients! I bought a box that cost me $10 for 60 tablets and they have done wonders!!! It can't hurt...
I have been taking Probiotics, I bought the $30.00 ones; but they haven't helped at all! :-(
I'm 42 and do not take ANY hormones or birth control. I am very healthy and active. About a year ago I started soaking my underwear. I thought I might have been having an issue with incontinence or excessive sweat. Turns out to be excessive vaginal discharge. After being tested and treated for phantom bacterial infections I am being told this is normal. I find it hard to believe that for 40yrs it isnt normal and suddenly it is. :-( no, it's not. I am suspicious that Diet soda or the sugar substitute may have a role in it.
