To me it smells like some kind of chemical FUME, and it can give me a headache, I thought originally it was from the pretty Pink and Purple capsules my medication for strep throat was in but I started to open them and put the medication in water and take it that way. It was helpful though to look into what someone else wrote about "Phantosmia at least I'll have a name when I go to my doctor.

I have the same thing going on. It's a dust, chemical smell that sometimes makes me sneeze and cough

One thing about it — I think it’s based on inhaling a real thing. But a particle of that chemical fume can stay lodged in your sinuses so you keep smelling it longer every time you are RE-exposed to the real problem, which may only be a day or 2 per week. It would be good to get an air purifier to help if it’s in ones living space. But sometimes it can be a chemical bottle that is cracked and leaking in an attic, a barrel that is leaching out a block away, an electrical wiring issue. It could even be in the neighborhood but the air flow only brings it into your place. Either way once it’s drawn up into the sinuses as a particle, or a fume that is on a regular particle, it can be in there for a long while, making you hyper sensitive to it and other similar smells. And it’s not healthy. Air purifier. And a professional company can come in and take air samples. Good luck!!

Smells chemical; burns nose & makes eyes water. Present occasionally, only in living room. No one can smell it but me. Present for 7 years (that's how long I've lived in this house). Any suggestions?
