Hi Bruce , I am one of the old timers. 4 years ago Dr Lingeman performed a Holep on me. Like you , I had 2 other health issues to deal with. With the help of Good Drs and Therapist, I was able to return to work after being on disability for 8months.
These Good Drs are a gift from God to help us.
Dr Lingeman is one of the best.
My prostate was quite large for my age, and took quite some time to retrain my Bladder to function as it should. Rest assured it is now working properly . I still wear a little protection, but leaking is very minor. It will take time but you will get back to normal.
These Drs have sacrificed a lot to be on the level that they function.
I am reminded of the Lord who healed 10 lepers, but only one came back to say thank you. I was determined not to be one of the nine.
I am not a Dr but There is something I can give out of this experience, I can encourage others who are going through what I went through. I hope this helps.
Blessings

I recently had a turp done, three weeks ago. I am not able to void on my own. My uro thinks that I have bladder muscles are weak, and so unable to push the urine out of the body. Would a HoLep procedure be of any help?

To the gentleman who had an unsuccessful Turp done three weeks ago and who can not void on his own, did your doctor do urodynamic tests before your surgery to try to determine if your problem was a prostate problem as opposed to a bladder problem? We don't know enough about your case and we are not [at least most of us are not] physicians. I would certainly consult a well respected HOLEP surgeon for this test and a general consultation. My surgeon was James Lingeman in Indianapolis and he is extremely well thought of. You don't state what part of the country you are in. Jack in Michigan.

Jack, I'm in Hawaii. No, I don't remember any kind of test, such as urodynamic's. I have heard that Dr. LIngeman, is from New Zealand, and that he has lots of practice with this procedure. I am at a loss on what to do next.

Dr. Lingeman is not from New Zealand. He did go there to view the HOLEP surgery being done in that country, learned the procedure and brought it back to the US. I would be surprised if any physicians in the US have performed as many HOLEP's as Dr., Lingeman. I would certainly contact his nurse, Stephanie, and explain your situation and ask for her advice. Stephanie is extremely knowledgeable in the procedure and can also advise you on how to proceed in light of your Turp surgery that did not seem to work out for you.

Do you have Stephanie's contact number? What state does she live in?

Thank you for your comments. I'm 57 years old and have been living with BPH for 25 yrs. can't take it anymore. This procedure sounds like the answer to my prayers. Are you still doing well? I'm fortunate that I live in the Indianapolis area so using Dr. Lingerman would be an easy option.

Hey guys

I had surgery with DR Lingemen about 3 months ago.  Since that time I have had 2 UTI's with 2 different bacteria.  I'm currently on AB's again.  I'm  a bit concerned about this situation as to why they are occuring.  I called Stephanie . and she said that is concerning, but DR Lingemen is on vacation.

I'm also still incontinent so I'm going to a urologist to get an opinion on all this.   I hope I don't need to have another procedure.  I'm pretty down about this considering I was hesitant to have the procedure due to other health issues.

Anyone here who had the Holium procedure have problems like this.

I am also a physician and am having the surgery done in a week. My prostate is also quite large. I will be delivering babies again 6 days post op. Will that be a problem and how long do you think I have to wait until exercising or intercourse.

How severe is your incontinence? Some have never used any protection. I stil use protection as I still occasionally dribble. It is no big deal for me. I don't consider myself incontinent. Due to the size of my prostate it took some time to recover. You should expect improvement on a weekly or monthly basis not necessarily a daily basis.I had suffered acute retention 70 times in 4 months . It does take some time to get back to normal. I had other health issues as well. Dr Lingeman is very compassionate and a great Dr. Stay in contact with him. Stephanie is also very good.

Hi Davisob,
Just me Here! Dr. Lingeman was going to release me to go back to work after a week and a half. My job required lifting
50 -60 lbs And multiple stair steps, and bending over. My biggest concern was getting to the bathroom when I needed to go. I was incontinent for several weeks but used depends briefs with no problem. As time went on, I gained control . My prostate was 110 grams pre surgery. 110 grams were removed. I held off much longer for sex than I needed to. My first orgasm was self induced as I considered it a medical issue and didn't want my wife to be concerned about causing me pain. It was not painful at all ! I did ejaculate a little the first time but the rest of the time it has been retrograde ejaculation. I find very little difference in sensation before an after surgery. You are in very good hand with Dr Lingeman.
All the best!

Sorry to post again but I just noticed I need to correct a statement I had made. My prostate was 110,and 92 was removed. My previous statement was incorrect ! I still have a prostate !
