Thankyou so much for your help and advice. I hope it's nothing serious like that but if it is I need to get it under control so I can try and live life normally. I'll look up the website you gave me and educate myself the best I can so I can explain to the Doctor my concerns and exact symptoms. Good Luck with your treatment and Best Wishes! ...Krissy
I wish you the best and please keep me updated.

This is the first time this has happened to me, I had similar symptoms to everyone here; strong heartbeat, slight heaviness in chest, shortness of breath. I am quite healthy, normal weight for a 16 year old girl, I am very active, as in I do a lot of dancing classes a week, I try to eat healthy, but the holidays have started and I don't do dancing on the holidays. Several of you have said that this could be a stress/anxiety related thing. At the moment, the only thing I'm really stressed about is the fact that I may be close to a falling out with one of my closest friends . . . Sure it's got me stressed out, but could it really be bad enough to be the cause of all this? The only time I've suffered from anxiety attacks was a few years ago when I was going through a period in time when I was very sick. I'm actually very worried right now, there are so many things that this could be.
Check out Wikipedia regarding Palpatations (which is what the "pouding of the heart" you all are referring to). Have blood work done to check for thyroid, calcium, magnesium, and other dificencies, etc.) an abnormalty in other parts of your system can cause this to happen. Good read and definitely put my mind at ease. I recently learned that I am lacking in calcium and magnesium, this may the cause of my palpatations (which occur about once/twice a day) I just started additional supplements and adjusting my diet as of yesterday, hoping it does the trip!

im 22 years old male, non smoker/drinker,,, i suffer the same issue,, at times my hearts beats go slow but so strong to a limit that i cant even stand on my legs it feels like il blackout at any second, ,, so its slow extremly strong beats like my heart is about to stop,, gets wors if i think of any bad memories iv been through. i hope some1 helps me out, though we have something genaticly wrong with our familes blood line but docs say its all fine, while i have a bad feeling about it cause my uncle passed away in 2007 while diving, and docs reffered to an issue with his heart but we werent given full details.
People with bounding pulses and other symptoms should be getting an echo and getting tested for valve problems such as aortic valve regurgitation, which can be hard to hear with a stethoscope and bounding pulse is one of the symptoms.
To all,
Coming from an anxiety sufferer, the best thing you can do is relax!!!
Palpatations, and changes in heart-rate, including feeling a stronger beat are 100% normal. Most people have this when they go to sleep because they are lying down resting and therefore can feel there heart beating stronger. In actual fact, for 99.99% of us our heart is beating the same, we are just noticing it.
If you have any other symptoms, i.e. dizziness, chest pain, irregular heart rate then it is a good idea to get yourself checked out.
But remember that all of these are symptoms of anxiety as well, so it may also just be nothing.
Feel better and look after yourselves!

I had the same thing happen to me when I was 13, it was so strong I could see it on my chest and it wasn't even beating fast which made it even stranger. I started having that feeling once in a while, a few days after I had just had palpitations Which made my heart start beating really fast and strong and the odd part is that I was just watching tv eating a sandwich and had just come back from school so I freak out and call my mom, we go to the hospital and they do a ECG/EKG I forgot which one and tell me I'm ok that nothing is wrong with me that it was probably just a panic attack, so I don't know if it was the palpitations that caused a panic attack or the panic attack that made me have palpitations. Ok so the palpitations happen again a few days later so we go to the hospital and same thing your ok. So after I have bin getting the palpitations for a month once in a wile we wanted to know why it's happening and how to stop it, so we go to the doctor he tells us to go to the cardiologist we go, they do a ultrasound of my heart and some sort of complicated EKG, so he tells us my heart is perfect and healthy, but that still doesn't answer the question of what's happening during the palpitations so he gives me some sort of monitor to record my heart beat 24/7 for a week. A week goes by and nothing happened, palpitations happen again he gives me one for a month. And at the end there was no questioning that something was medically wrong. The only advice we got was to relax so after all of that my mom makes a appointment with a acupuncturist and a massage, i get the treatment time passes and I didn't get get palpitations and the strong heart beat went away. All this lasted for about a year. So my advice is to go to a expert get tested if nothing is wrong just relax and maybe get acupuncture, I'm convinced that's what helped me. I got acupuncture 3 times after I noticed the 1st one helped me a lot.And if nothing is wrong with your heart and you still feel that, try the acupuncture and if it doesn't work just relax and let time take it away.Btw I'm 16 now.
IT'S LOW IRON!!!! (at least it is for me)....I too had been having these strange symptoms going on with my heart for the past few weeks. It was keeping me awake at night, causing me anxiety of course, and I couldn't even sleep on my left side because it was pounding....I am vegan, so I have to watch my iron intake (plus I've been dieting and so I haven't eaten much food in general lately.) I took a look at the multi-vitamin i take every day and to my surprise- there is NO IRON in it!....so I immediately took a couple of iron pills.....I felt a little better within a couple of hours.....I took another at lunch and at dinner (you should NEVER take too much iron, but I wasn't worried to boost my body with it for a couple of days because whether that was causing the irregular strong heartbeat or not, I knew I was dangerously low.) That first night after the iron boost, the heartbeat problem was almost gone, and the next night and day, it only happened a couple of times and then it was over. I can finally get some sleep. the low iron problem had also caused me to feel 'wiped out' and absolutely exhausted. I am now taking only two iron pills a day and will go down to one per day as recommended very soon.....so try boosting your iron!!!
Im a 18 year old male and have always exersized and been extremely fit. I can run three miles in 18:46. Im also about to parole from the department of youth corrections. I went to the hospital for a "anxiety attack" because it felt like i was really going to die. My looked healthy on the ER's ekg. Still having the same problems but when lying down, sitting, and especially when i lay down right after i get an adreniline rush. Three months later i go to get another ekg for my wisdoms to be removed. The ekg showed that my just skips a beat and doesnt have an extra beat. My blood pressure and everything is perfect but the doc referred me to a cardiologist because i have an electrical abnormality in my heart. I've been under some EXTREMELY intense stress for the last yearand have really bad anxiety directly related to sweating . The doctor told me that your not susposed to feel your heart beat other than when exersizing. I have yet to go to the cardiolist but; I strongly suggest that you [get a referral to a cardiologist from your doctor] if your concerned about your heart and have similare symtoms.
