I have a feeling like there is a lump under my right bottom of my rib cage. It isn't painful but it feels like there is a pingpong ball underneath. It cannot be felt from the outside. I do not feel it when standing only when sitting, bending and when I sleep on my right side. Any ideas or suggestions? I've had it for about a month now.
what is that lump?

Hello Patti,

the lump you felt sounds to me most like it might be caused by hernia. hernia happens when abdominal muscles get weak, so a small gap forms in the abdominal wall, allowing a small part of soft stomach tissue to sort of "seep out" and form a little pocket. You usually can't feel the lump that forms when you are standing up because in order to stand up, the abdominal wall has to tense up, so the tissue returns in it's normal place. But when abdominal muscles are relaxed, it comes back again.

What you need to do is try to avoid any sudden activity that will put these muscles under more stress, such as lifting heavy objects, and try and see your physician so you can confirm and treat it.

Also had the exact symtoms, & it actually did turn out to be a Hiatial Hernia. Go for an endoscopy.
