I have just spent the last two weeks in and out of hospital and doctors office only to be sent home after receiving almost every test known to man in abdomen region. I’m 33 and have never had this before. All test are clear. No one can tell me what’s going on. I was given pain medication and nausea medication while spending 5 days in hospital so tests could be ran. They say “it’s in my head”. No it’s in my abdomen starts under right rib cage progressing to lower right abdomen right above my hip bone. I feel like something moving in there. All tests came back fine but it has me proper freaked out because it’s consistent and recently new sensation. At least I find a bit of comfort in knowing I’m not the only one. Every dr thinks I’m crazy.

I’m 42, male, and I’ve had the same fluttering feeling (sometimes cramping but not painful) for the past few days. I’ve had it several times before in my 20s and 30s. Sometimes I have a heart palpitation right after. This past 6 months have been hell for me from a psychological standpoint. In Nov and Dec of last year I was having pain in my RUQ near liver and gall bladder. I had a full ultrasound done of that area and showed nothing other than fatty liver. Even had a HIDA scan...nothing. All labs were good too. My doc put me on Prilosec for GERD, which I had too, and it cleared up. I went a couple months just fine then my GERD acted up again and I went back for more tests. My blood pressure was high do they gave me meds for that and it also helps my anxiety and high heart rate. I finally saw a gastro doc who said to just stay on Prilosec and I could alternate with Zantac. I don’t like being on a bunch of meds so I’m trying to go off it but the GERD keeps coming back. Now the fluttering is back too. Anyway, I made what might be a hopeful discovery the other night. I took my simvastatin 20 mg too late and had horrible GERD for the entire night and morning. I quit taking all meds (daily aspirin, fish oil, vitamin D, coq10, and statin) for a couple days and just stayed on my blood pressure med (antenolol). I felt just fine. I started taking my meds again but this time with food and stayed up at least 3 hours before bed. Right as I layed down the fluttering came back. I didn’t sleep well and felt groggy this morning. I took all my meds again this morning (except for statin and antenolol) and the fluttering is back. At this point I’m thinking it’s the daily aspirin and possible the statin. Both can effect the liver. I quit drinking a few weeks ago (I was a moderate drinker, 2 a night 4-5 nights a week) and that seemed to help some. I’m tired of doctors telling me everything is fine even though I have physical symptoms. The only thing negative they see is high bp, fatty liver, and borderline high blood sugar (but my a1c is always good). Anyway, I’m just gonna try a more plant based diet for a while, no alcohol, minimal carbs (I don’t do sweets or sodas anyway, so just less bread), and I’m trying to lose about 20 lbs. Oh and reduce stress which might be the root cause of it all.

I have been having these same symptoms for sometime. Along with the flutters that feel like they start in my stomach then go into my chest that feels like heart flutters. I do get pvc’s. I also get non stop belching with the flutters. I just had an endoscopy and a colonoscopy. The doctor said I have a small hiatal hernia and part of my intestines are a little twisted, but no blockages. He believes it’s gas build up that’s causing this uncomfortableness. The cardiologist said everything is fine, but this is driving me crazy and I want answers.

It's not in your head, but it could be as simple as dehydration causing muscle spasms. These started for me with intense pain but I get them without pain too. I ran to the doctor because the only time I ever felt that sensation outside of pregnancy was an ovarian cyst so large, it was twisting and pushing everything up into my gallbladder. My doctor sent me for emergency ultrasound to rule out another cyst and they found my pancreas inflamed-bloodwork confirmed pancreatitis the next day. Later blood work did not show pancreatitis because my pancreas wasn't inflamed-its just not working. Keep a food journal. If you're like me, the flutters will always be after you eat and especially after certain foods or heavy meal. Since the 1st episode, my stomach has been slow to empty so my doctor has me noting in food journal if and when I feel (sometimes hear) a gurgling of those fluids pouring into my stomach (the organs are working as they're supposed to) or muscle spasms (flutters). He initially prescribed a muscle relaxer for "smooth muscle" but stopped it as it can further slow my digestion. As to why my pancreas suddenly acted up, my doctor thinks I have an autoimmune disorder Sjogrens syndrome which makes my immune system attack moisture producing glands which would include my pancreas. You could have a different cause but at least for all your tests, you know they ruled out the major immediate threats. So don't panic but don't give up. You know your body better than anyone including a doctor who can't feel what you're feeling.

I two have the fluttering in my upper right stomach area. I am 74 yrs. old , my Dr. did MRI and Ct Scan , said all is normal no blockages in any ducts . The fluttering slowed to a stop and , returned again. I do not have a gall bladder and I am very concerned as I don't know anymore now than I did !

I had my gall bladder removed almost 2 months ago. I’m glad I saw this article, as I’ve experienced this ‘flutter’ and was worried I had Covid or something! I feel like if I had a stethoscope I would hear something. My fluttering is central and more to the left. Any thoughts?

I have a flutter on right side of upper body. Not the heart. No pain. I'm 49 and it just started today. What could it be? It's very light.
