Hi Guest,
First off, did you talk to your PT about this as well? They see a lot of injuries and such and maybe they have some experience with another patient that they can relate you to.
What kind of doctor are you seeing, I would assume an ortho doctor? Does he/she specialize in ankle and foot care?
If I were you I would go somewhere else for a second opinion, just for your calm of mind and to put you at peace. I would be concerned as well.
2 years ago I broke my 5th metatarsal and that healed within 8 -10 weeks with no physio and no problems with my other toes or fractures. I actually have no leftover pain from that. Although 7 weeks ago I had bunion surgery repair in my opposite foot and this is extremely painful and just after 6 weeks started to partial weight-bear so I have a new pain again. I'm also thinking I need another opinion just for the pain that I have had but I don't know how to go about asking for that and my family doctor is on holidays until May 8. I'll ask at my appointment that day if I still have a lot of pain.
Do what you think is right. If you have another 8 weeks in a boot of non-weight bearing, you have nothing to lose by going for another opinion and who knows maybe they will be a better and wiser doctor.
Good luck and hope this helps
Thank you for the input. My doctor is a podiatric doctor and surgeon so my thought is to see an actual ortho doctor for a second opinion...it has been too long and I will talk to the PT as well.
Thanks again.
No problem, that's why we're here. I think seeing an ortho is a great idea. Hopefully they can be of more assistance than your doctor.
