This is exactly me right now! How you figured out what it could be? I made a dr appointment but won't be seen for a bit, is there anything you know that could help me figure out what this is? Thank you!!!

I am a 50 year old male (skinny, if that matters). I have this issue exactly as you described. If I haven't eaten anything for awhile then eat big bites of dry meats or something heavy, or talk while I'm eating, the food clogs up just before the stomach. Its scary. I wait, and wait, and hope. There is then a girgling noise, and I start drooling. I can't talk or drink anything. I have to leave and find somewhere to throw it up. Its painful and embarrassing. I'm always the last one left at a food table. This doesn't happen everyday, but almost.

What can I do?

I will try the arms up thing. My mother gets it too, especially when she yaps and eats.

I have the same thing exactly. I am going to a doctor if I can find one that believes me. Its definitely not acid reflux. I think, personally, that I have severe scaring in my throat. but sometimes, it appears to be my thyroid. The thyroid is in the middle of it all, and is swollen (I think) because its bigger even on the outside of my throat. I can see and feel its shape easily.
Do you belch alot? I also have severe pain even when drinking water sometimes.

I am a 62 year old male have had this for about 5 years now. Same as most of you have described. I thought I had narrowed it down to anything with MSG's in it Chinese Food especially and really good Silizler type steaks. Steaks at an Italian restaurant no problem they don't use MSG's. Mine happens mostly when we eat out so we have reduced eating out to once a week. I do have sinus issues all the time lots of phlegm all the time I think it has something to do with staying hydrated and keeping the phlegm moving. Headed to the doctor as we like going out to eat and its scary and embarrassing. Will let you know what he says.
